Summer's Over Now Let's Get Back to Work!
Funded Nov 25, 2012Thank you so much for your very generous donation. The kids love all of the new supplies. They actually love writing because they know they will be able to draw a picture with the new crayons and markers. Surprisingly, they are treating them very nicely. They remind each other to not press hard and to put the tops back on.
They also love the erasers, black white board markers, pencil sharpener and the study boards. The kids are able to focus on their writing or tests when they are blocked from their peers.
We really appreciate your donation. The kids take great pride in the new supplies.”

With the holiday season, we were also able to use the construction paper, lined paper and scissors to create holiday cards for their families. The kids are just so much for motivated when they have new fun supplies to work with. I want to thank you again for providing these supplies for my classroom!”

Funded Sep 27, 2012Thank you so much for your very generous donation. The kids love playing with the puzzles. They get to play with them when they have finished with their classwork or when they are working in centers.
They great thing is that there are so many different level and types of puzzles. There are puzzles of all different skill levels. This is great because all of the kids can be challenged at their level. Some of the puzzles are on phonics skills, sqequencing, rhyming, and word phrasing. There were a total of 19 puzzles. With 24 students that is almost one for each child. Thank you so much!!”

Dell Computer For Science And Math Lessons
Funded Jan 11, 2012Thank you so much for your very generous donation. The Dell Computer has been such a life saver in our classroom. I am able to show the daily math videos, videos that reinforce our science concepts and put together power point lessons... without it freezing. I actually have working access to the Internet.
The kids are so engaged when I show a video, clip art or real images of the words or concepts we are learning about. It is a very powerful tool. Your donation made this all possible. Thank you again. We really appreciate it!!”

Funded Apr 16, 2012Thank you so much for the amazing science materials. These will help enhance my instruction in class. The journals will help reinforce the lessons and concepts taught daily. The puzzle will also help to reinforce concepts. The puzzles will he a great addition to center time. My students will be practicing their reading while learning science concepts in a fun way. The file folder games can be done individually or in partners. The games encourage the kids to talk about the science concept. I have realized that when kids are asked to discuss or teach each other, their knowledge of the subject becomes evident. You can really see which concepts they have grasped. The habitat books are amazing. The information is very kid friendly and the pictures are gorgeous. The kids love them. Thank you again for your very generous donation.”

Funded Jan 31, 2012Thank you so much for your very generous donation. We just recently got an iPad and these accessories have made it easier for the kids to use it in the classroom. The case can make the iPad stand up so the kids can work on it in a small group at a desk. It can also fold up and produce a keyboard so the kids can begin working on their keyboard skills.
The purple case holds it and protects it when I am transporting it around the classroom. It has a magnetic flap that closes it. The plastic screen protects the iPad screen from little fingerprints and scratches. All of these items will help to protect the life of the iPad. It makes me feel more comfortable letting little 6 year olds handle such an expensive piece of technology.”

An Apple (iPad) a Day, Keeps the 1st Graders Motivated
Funded Jan 26, 2012Thank you so much for your very generous donation. The kids love playing on the iPad. They finish their work quicker just to have a chance to do a learning activity on it. I have purchased many apps already. They are working on phonics skills, math games that teach number sense, time and money, and science games. I have had them work in small groups of 3 and individually. They have all rotated turns. I have also used it to show videos and math concepts on the big projector in our classroom. I have heard them on the playground talking about the "cool iPad" we have in our class. They seem to remember the skills the iPad games are teaching better than when I teach it.
Thank you again!”

Funded Aug 31, 2011generousgenerousThank you so much for our very gneerous donation. My class really appreciates your generosity. The supplies will be put to very good use.
The paper, red pens, stapler with staples and clipboards will help us in writer's workshop. It took us a while to get into the supplies this year because my class was not ready to use some of the supplies, but they are ready now!!
The paper is used to practice writing sentences and to write stories. The are beginning to use the red pens to edit their own work and their peer's work. They then use the stapler to staple their books together or to staple their editing paper to their work. I use the storage clip boards to keep papers together for our writing units.
We really appreciate you support of writing in our classroom!”

Funded Mar 9, 2011Thank you so much for your very generous donation. It is a great surprise to receive the email saying my project has been funded. In these hard times, when education is getting cut, all of the extra support is so appreciated.
My class was lucky enough to receive 2 HP mini-laptops. They love them. They have fun working on the computers. They work in partners and learn while playing fun games. They learn how to share and read. It is a great way to have the kids work together quietly. They use headphones so they do not disturb the rest of the class. I can use them to show the class math and science videos that get projected onto the big screen in the classroom. When the video is big and projected, they pay attention and learn.
My class thanks you so much for the computers. We appreciate the technology you have provided out class. It is a skill they will take with them forever.”

Funded Feb 9, 2011Thank you so much for your generous donation. I am still amazed that there are people out there like you. I guess there really are people who will donate their own hard earned money to teachers they have never met. As you know, we spend a lot of our own money on supplies, so it's nice to receive new things and not have to beg the district. This donation allows me to buy other things that are needed for the classroom.
I received the Listening Center Cart, CD/Tape Player, 8 headphones and the junction box that hooks the headphones up to the CD player. The kids love it. They are able to listen to books that I have on tape, listen to stories that are in our reading series, complete activities where they listen to directions and listen to learning songs.
When I do center time and read with individual students, I know that the rest of the class is busy and engaged in learning activities. They are quiet, busy, engaged and learning. They do not interrupt me or the other children because they are having so much fun.
I want to thank you again for your generosity and wonderful gift. When I tell friends and family about the donation, they are shocked that people actually give money to people they have never met. This is a wonderful gift that you have provided. I am greatly touched. My students appreciate it as well!”
