My students need an iPad mini, headphones, an iPad case, and an iPad screen protector to support their learning in art. With amazing FREE apps developed by local, national, and international museums, students will be able to attend cyber field trips around the world! They will be able to zoom in and see paintings from Masters. Students will be able to explore Van Gogh's brushstrokes and read an artist's writings and explanations of "why art?" In addition to free apps, students will be able to develop a digital portfolio with SeeSaw. Students will be able to blog and document their learning with photos and videos. The digital portfolio is a summative assessment of a year's worth of art education, and there is also a home communication tool where parents can see their student's entries. As a teacher, an underlying responsibility is to model appropriate digital practices to our students. Practicing digital skills in all classrooms is important. Teaching students about how to find digital resources, pictures, copyright laws, and empowering them to learn through technology will be a strong benefit as they grow as students and life-long learners.
