  • Keep it Cool

    Funded May 10, 2024

I can't believe how quickly this project was funded! My classroom is already feeling cooler and more comfortable! With temperatures forecasted to hit 90 degrees this week, it's the perfect time for a new A/C unit to keep us cool.

Thank you so much to all of the donors who gave to this project. My students and I are so grateful for your generosity. Every donation made this purchase possible and the A/C unit will keep me and literally hundreds of students comfortable and productive.

In a time when public schools are often derided, it is especially uplifting to know there are people who care and are willing to support our schools. THANK YOU!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Inspire Organization

    Funded Oct 27, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting me and my students by donating to my project! I'm hoping to inspire all my students to get organized and these supplies are a huge help. In fact, almost all of the supplies have been used up already.

I love the cart that your money helped me purchase, as you will see in the pictures. It's holding all the folders, pencil cases, colored paper, and coloring books and it's a nice place for me to put a few plants on top.

It is truly heartwarming to know there are people like you who are willing to donate your money to help make our classroom a happier place. My students and I are so grateful!”

  • Help a Few in Need

    Funded Feb 25, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my project, "Help a Few in Need!" I was able to send a few things, like a warm winter coat and chargers, to a few students during remote learning.

Your generosity means the world to teachers, who so often understand the needs of their students, but lack the resources to be able to do something about it.

The pandemic has really hit our population hard, and we are seeing greater needs among our students. Your kindness and generosity make a lasting impact!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Improve Our Book Selection

    Funded Jun 7, 2019

Thank you so much for helping me fill the bookshelves in my lovely reading corner! My students enjoy being able to relax in the corner while reading these awesome books. Now I have books at every level - from easy bilingual picture books to novels in Spanish. My seniors especially love the books because they are able to understand much of what they're reading and it makes them feel proud.

The reading corner is my way of rewarding my students for being hard workers and curious learners. Through these carefully chosen books, students are exposed to the language in an organic way, re-reading childhood stories in Spanish or learning about a latino culture through the lens of a bilingual chapter book.

Thank you for your generous donations! It has made such a positive difference in my classroom!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Fill Our Book Shelves!

    Funded May 29, 2018

Our new reading corner has been a huge success! Students are thrilled to have a quiet space to sit and enjoy a new book. I encourage my students to visit the corner when they finish early with classwork or a quiz or test. It's so rewarding to see a smile on their faces when they discover a favorite childhood book or familiar teen novel that they can now read in Spanish!

When I began this project, I envisioned a simple shelf of books for students to read in their free time. However, once I began to discover the wide range of books available to all levels of Spanish speakers, I was truly inspired to make the space one that would be inviting, exciting and educational. What has resulted is a magical corner of my room that has transformed the whole classroom into a place where students are welcomed with the soft light of the floor lamp and the cozy armchairs to use their spare time to read!

I am so incredibly grateful to the donors, known and unknown to me, who gave any amount of money to make this special space a reality in my classroom! I want donors to know that the funds they provided have had a hugely positive impact in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

  • Light Our Reading Nook!

    Funded May 10, 2018

Our reading corner is well on its way to being complete! We have named our new space "Reading Rincón!" ("Rincon" is Spanish for "corner.") It has two comfy chairs, a book shelf and a pretty floor lamp that provides soft lighting and a bit of charm. We made decorations from recycled books as well!

My students use the reading corner to relax with a bilingual book after they've finished their classwork for the day. They tell me it's a great way for them to learn some new words that they wouldn't come across in their textbooks. I put a short survey in the corner and students are letting me know which type of book they'd like to see more of. There are picture books in Spanish, picture books with both English and Spanish, bilingual chapter books, novels in Spanish, and novels in English that are set in Spanish-speaking cultures.

Once I get some feedback from students, I will be posting a new project to fill up the book shelf with more of what they want. We are all encouraged and uplifted by the support our project received from so many kind donors! Thank you to all those who generously gave to our reading corner!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Smith

As a foreign language teacher, I encourage my students to read independently, especially in Spanish! But, I don't have any books in my classroom aside from text books. My students need a comfortable reading area to see how fun it can be to read in Spanish! So, I am creating a reading corner in my classroom to encourage students to explore some new books. I plan to include bilingual picture books about Spanish-speaking cultures, some fiction books in Spanish that students are familiar with, like Harry Potter, and some books that are set in Spanish-speaking countries, such as Hemingway's The Sun also Rises. My cozy reading nook will give my students a chance to relax with a book as a reward for finishing their classwork. But, the corner is poorly lit and is in desperate need of additional lighting. I am hoping to get a floor lamp to brighten up the space. I want to include comfy seating to invite students to sit for a while in the corner and explore the books. So, I am requesting an arm chair for my cozy corner. It's going to be a relaxing, beautiful space for all of my students to read, learn and enjoy!
