  • iPads for Literacy and Social Learning

    Funded Aug 23, 2014

    Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Donors Choose Project. The students are thrilled to have iPads at a center and I am happy to let them carry them about because of the cases. The students love the educational games I have found for them. I even plan on making 5 minutes of iPad time a reward option, instead of something from the prize box. I have also used the iPads to enhance my teaching. I found a wonderful conferencing app and an app that levels books. This tool has enabled me to add more books to our leveled library.   • Twister Free Listening Center

    Thank you so much for your generous donations to fund my Donors Choose project! My students and I truly appreciate your generosity! I was so excited to receive the packages in the mail. The students were excited to finally get to go to computer center, now that we had enough headphones. The students say that listening center and computer center are among their favorite centers. The headphones work beautifully! Listening and Computer Center are now easy, stress free centers for me to set up. The students are able to work independently and without arguments!”

My students are sweet and funny first graders who live in NY on Long Island. Our town was badly affected by Super Storm Sandy. Many homes and businesses are still in the process of rebuilding. Our town is full of hardworking individual who came together in a time of need. Since our whole town missed Halloween, some parents organized a "Trunk or Treating" event around a local park. I came with a trunk full of candy. I loved seeing my students faces light up when they saw me.
