My school is located in a diverse neighborhood. Much of the student population speaks a language other than English at home. Many of our students are in temporary housing, and struggle to have basic school supplies. The kids are amazing. They don't have a lot, and they manage to do great things with what they do have. They're appreciative, respectful, and determined to be successful. The school is a supportive environment. We focus on rewarding the good instead of punishing the bad. The administration knows every student, and the teachers take a real interest in the students' lives beyond the school day.
