A WeatherLink Live For Our Future Scientist
Funded May 9, 2024Thank you donors for you kind and generous support. When my students first received the WeatherLink hub, they couldn't wait to connect it to our weather station and begin collecting weather data from our school. As soon as it was up and running, they began collecting data, including the temperature, humidity, wind speed, and barometric pressure of our school site.
Within a week of receiving the data hub, the 5th grade students formulated a plan and schedule to take turns observing and recording daily weather conditions at the school. They will share the collected data and create graphs that compare different types of weather information, such as temperature highs and lows and rainfall amounts over the coming weeks. Once their data collection is complete, the students will write reports and create presentations to share their findings with the class. I have suggested to them that they might use their findings to help them understand how weather influences their daily activities, such as clothing choices or outdoor play.
Your generous support has made this learning opportunity possible.”

Funded Mar 30, 2022Your generous iPad donation has opened a whole new world of science experiences and opportunities for my students. They use the iPad to code Sphero programable robots and Makebloch mBots with programs that bring their creations to life. They burst with pride and accomplishment every time they see their creations at work, whether rolling down the floor, or performing complex geometric moves they programed the robots to perform.
Although they love to build things, the most exciting part of the process for them is the coding. While some are still working with the drag-and-drop feature, many have moved on to coding from scratch. Regardless of what phase they are at, they simply love to code!
The students are always looking for new programming challenges and opportunities. They want me to create lessons that allow them to use the iPad and robots in all subject area. Thanks again for this wonderful learning opportunity.”

Full STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts, and Mathematics) Ahead!
Funded Jan 8, 2021Your generous Fire tablets donation has opened up a whole new world of experiences and opportunities for my students. They use the tablets to build Lego, mBot, and Sphero programable robots and to code programs that bring their creations to life. They burst with pride and accomplishment every time they see their inventions at work, whether rolling down the floor, or performing complex geometric moves they programed the robots to perform.
Although they love the designing, engineering, and building parts, the most exciting part of the process for them is the coding. While some are still working with the drag-and-drop coding feature, many have moved on to coding programs from scratch. Regardless of what phase they are at, they simply love to code!
The students are always looking for new programming challenges and opportunities. They want me to create lessons that allow them to use tablets and robots in all subject area. Although that's not always possible, I do try to incorporate the programing into as much of our lessons as possible. Thanks you again for this wonderful learning opportunity.”

Funded Feb 15, 2020Unfortunately, shortly after your generous donation funded our STEAM Lab project, our school was forced to close due to Covid-19. We have spent the last seven months sitting in front of our computers learning virtually. Although some of our students returned this week to in-person learning, I continue teaching my class online. As a result, we have yet to utilize the wonderful STEAM activities your kindness made possible. As soon as my student return to the classroom, they will open the packages to begin exploring and learning. I will send you an update and include picture of them discovering.”

Funded Nov 15, 2013I can't begin to describe how excited the students were when they received and later began to use the iPad you so generously help them acquire. The students were ecstatic, and so anxious to use it, that we had to quickly come up with a rotation schedule. As soon as I uploaded several software programs onto the iPad and set up a timetable, the students began working with it.
Bug Brain Phonics Awareness, Bug Brain Phonics Advances, and Bug Brain Fluency quickly became class favorites. The fluency application has helped the students increase their reading accuracy and speed, while the phonics programs have served to reinforce foundational skills critical to academic success.
The instructional gains have been abundant and dramatic. Recent assessment results have shown vast improvement in reading fluency and comprehension, as well as increases in my students' ability to blend and delete phonemes, and build words. Words cannot properly express how grateful we are for your gift. As you can see, your kindness is already making a difference.”
