Oh, the Books They'll Read!
Funded Mar 12, 2021I cannot say enough how much this means to me and my students! I am blown away by the generosity. My younger readers don’t have as many books to choose from as my older ones, so these books are going to make a huge difference! I cannot wait to tell them the good news!”

Funded May 10, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donations! This project being filled has made a huge impact in the library. It helps keep our library organized, which I love! It's also an easy way to charge all of our technology.
Each year we gain more and more technology in our library in order to promote information literacy skills. Having this charging station allows me to easily charge all of our chromebooks every day.
Also, I like to teach my students how to be independent. Having stations like these easily allows them to be able to grab a computer, put them back, and easily plug them in at the end of the day.
I'm so beyond thankful, because I wouldn't have been able to do it without your help!! :)"”

We Can Self Check-Out Our Books!
Funded May 15, 2018Grateful is the word that is being taught and USED in our library program from all the amazing gifts through Donor's Choose! Several of our patrons are pledging to "pay it forward" when they are adults and have a job. Being able to self check-in their books gives them the ability to become more independent in the library. It also provides them with a feeling of self which is also so extremely vital.
With 500ish student patrons coming in and out of the library, the wireless scanner gives us the mobility to accommodate everyone even if there are over 30 patrons at a time. This is an incredibly freeing feeling for us all to know that EVERYONE is being taken care of in THEIR library!
We are blown away at the generosity of others.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Royer
Read to Succeed!
Funded Jan 23, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation towards our project! The students were so excited about adding 4 more chromebooks in the library. We have been working so hard on increasing our reading skills and reading on grade level. Each week when the students come to the library, they are able to use our online reading programs to work on their reading skills. Before, students had to take turns using the computers. Students were only able to have 5-10 minutes at a time. Now, I can give more students the opportunity to work on these programs for longer periods of time! We are so happy about these computers and inching even closer to making our reading goals!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Royer

Funded Oct 23, 2017As the newest librarian at Waller Elementary, it is my duty to promote the love of reading. Our library did not have many of the popular titles that my students were interested in reading. Thank you to your generous donation, we now have 26 new titles! The students were over the moon when they saw the book boxes being delivered. The students are now racing to the shelves to be the first to check out one of our new books! We are extremely thankful for these new books! Thank you for helping me promote the love of reading for these students!”

Little Techies
Funded Aug 1, 2017I cannot begin to tell you how thankful we are for your donation. Through your donation we have been able to provided teachers and students with a new program to help incorporate STEAM in the classrooms. STEAM is a big push in Bossier Parish these days. Nearpod is a wonderful program that gives students opportunities to go on virtual field trips, complete student-led projects, and lessons and give teachers new ways to teach and present the content. So far, we have been able to take virtual fields to dig deeper into lessons in the library. Students have had a lot of fun learning with this new program!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Omidyar Network and 6 other donors.Library on the Go!
Funded Apr 12, 2017My students have greatly benefited from the leveled library mobile storage cart and book bins, they are able to find the books they want quickly! All students are allowed to check out a book each week. For my younger students, going to the shelves is very exciting but can be quite overwhelming. Instead of going to the shelves and being overwhelmed by the large number of books, searching for one they like, this cart has allowed the book selection process run more efficiently. Students have more time to go find a comfie seat and begin enjoying their book!
During the year, the kids are unable to check out books due to Book Fair, state testing, field trips, etc. Having this portable cart, I can go from class to class and allow students to still have the opportunity to check out books.
Thank so you much for your generous donation. The students, teachers, and myself are so thankful for your donations!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Royer
