Struggling First Graders Need Books Now!
Funded Nov 22, 2010Thanks so much for providing these books for our class! We had a group of students who really needed these basic texts to build fundamental reading strategies. Thanks to your help, every single one of these students can now read grade-level appropriate books. Some have even moved on to reading chapter books. These simple texts that you donated were exactly what the students needed to practice phonics strategies and develop a knowledge of sight-words. Now we have a whole class of proud First Grade readers. We can't thank you enough!”

Funded Sep 19, 2010Thank you so much for giving these amazing books to our classroom! Book Clubs were a huge success! The First Graders absolutely loved reading books together and talking about them just like grown-ups do. There is no better way to improve reading comprehension than sharing and talking about what we've read. The kids really didn't want to put these books down and now several of the clubs have waiting lists. It is so fantastic to see students excited about reading! We can't thank you enough!”

Pencils and Paper, Pretty Please!
Funded Jun 24, 2010Thank you so much for supporting my wonderful students! Having enough pencils and paper has made such a difference to our classroom! It seems like a very basic thing, but when I showed the kids the boxes of pencils and new journals, they were SO excited! It is so great to see students able to focus on writing without having to worry about protecting their pencils and erasers from other writers trying to snatch them up. With these nice new materials, students are proud to be writers and enjoy creating fabulous pieces of work. Thank you so much!!!”

Have A Seat!
Funded Apr 23, 2010Wow, thank you so much for providing this much-needed seating for my class! These chairs have been even more valuable to us this school year since because of budget troubles, I have an even bigger class! It is so nice for students not to have to worry about having a place to sit down to do their work. And these chairs are the perfect size for our first-graders, too. The bean-bag chairs have really brightened up the library and provide a wonderful place for students to sit and relax with a good book!”

Help First Graders Find Focus!
Funded May 7, 2010Thanks so much for donating these amazing little things to our classroom! We can feel the difference during lessons when students have something to keep their fidgety hands busy. Not only have these been enormously helpful to the students who need to hold them, they have also been beneficial to the students who sit near the fidgeters every day and are now able to learn in peace without distractions. You have made some very happy First Graders. So from our entire class, thank you, thank you, thank you!”

First Graders Need Classroom Supplies!
Funded Dec 16, 2009Thank you so much for giving us these much-needed resources! It is so nice for students to be able to do their work without worrying about whether or not they have a pencil to write with. Our classroom is a brighter place with our fancy new bulletin borders. We have taken several field trips with our nice new name-tags. The new hall pass has helped students keep track of their own time out of the room so that they don't miss out on important classroom activities. We can't thank you enough for helping our wonderful students! ”

Pencils and Pens and Markers, Let's Write!
Funded Oct 26, 2009Thank you so much for helping to provide our class with these much needed supplies! Our students are so happy to have enough pencils to go around. We just love that students no longer need to argue over who had a pencil first. These pencils have created a peaceful and stress-free learning environment. We are also very excited to have new markers to write on our chart paper with because now we can actually see what we have written from across the room. We can't thank you enough for giving us these essential tools for learning! ”

Funded Jan 22, 2010Thank you so much for helping to provide these fabulous books for our classroom!Having books that students are interested in is the best way to get them to read and our First-Graders absolutely love all of these series. It's so nice to see students rushing to the library to pick out new books. We even see many students choosing to read during their free time now. This means that these children are building reading habits that will last them as they go through school and even after they graduate. Thanks for making this possible!”

Computers for First Graders!
Funded Jan 20, 2010Thank you so much for helping to provide these amazing computers to our students! We have used them for hours and hours of research, math games, and literacy practice. Students have used the computers to read online articles about current events and research topics they're interested in. Many students have been able to master their addition facts and build problem-solving strategies as a result of playing online math games. Students who struggle with reading love to practice reading with online phonics programs to help them solve tricky words.
We can't thank you enough for this amazing gift!”
