New Year! Time to Reorganize!
Funded May 3, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations! The materials purchased through this project have helped to organize our classroom and the many resources in it.
We ended up getting a new reading program and the file organizers ended up being super useful. They are holding all of the books and resources that we need to access each week.
Students love how they can quickly find anything they are looking for, and I love how easy it is for them to put resources back where they found them. We are so grateful to everyone who had a part in this project!”

Funded May 26, 2021I so do excited yo welcome my students back with these resources!! The light filters are amazing. Not only do they block the fluorescent light that causes so ma y headaches, but they also aid in creating a calmer environment.
I have also been busy all summer laminating so many resources for my class using the laminating sheets. Not only does this allow for resources to be used heat after year, but it also makes it so much easier to sanitize; which of course, is more important than ever!
Thank you so much for your kindness!!”

Funded Mar 5, 2021This project has helped me and my class immensely. During this unprecedented time, I was so grateful to be able to purchase needed resources for both in person and remote learning. I was able to get a variety of activities and projects to help my class grow.
The doc cam was especially helpful during hybrid learning or unexpected closures. I was able to bring it to and from school easily so our lessons could continue as seamlessly as possible.
Thank you for your generous donations. The students have had a less than perfect school year, but you have helped me make it as normal as possible!”

Materials Matter!
Funded Oct 24, 2019Thank you so much for your kindness! My class and I appreciate your generosity. While we received various materials, I cannot even explain how excited they were to walk in and see Legos! We also received a classroom camera to document our memories together; they made sure I took a picture right away! These materials will help my students grow as a classroom community. They will also allow us to be more creative and even monitor our bodies during lessons. We are so excited to be able to use these materials for the remainder of the year!”

Funded May 8, 2019Although we have only had these tablets for a couple of weeks, my students are already well on their way to learning with them! As of now, each student uses a tablet 1-2 times a day. During reading, they use the tablets to scan QR codes and listen to a story. During math, I am able to assign students as a whole or individually, various math activities to complete. And even better, I can monitor their progress!
The students love that they are not only learning, but they are also taking advantage of apps and features that they have not seen or used before. Some of my students have never used a tablet before so this has been a brand new experience for them!
I especially love that tablets have given my special education students as well as my English Language Learners another avenue in which to access the curriculum. It is so nice to be able to tailor lessons to meet a variety of needs. Thank you so much for your kind donations! I cannot wait to see the impact these will make next year when my class has the opportunity to use them from the beginning!”

Funded Aug 10, 2018Thank you so much for your kind donations. Because of you, our classroom library is on its way to becoming a great one. While it is taking us some time to reconstruct our library and find the most appropriate way to reorganize our books, the new bins have already made a difference. My students have not only gotten a new library but they now have ownership of it as they help me switch out the old bins, find books with like authors and organize genres to meet their needs. You have given this first grade class the opportunity to build their own classroom library and we are all so thankful. We cannot wait for the hard work to be finished so our beautiful new library can finally be up and fully running. Thank you again for your kindness.”

New Rug, New Year!
Funded Aug 26, 2016The day our brand new rug arrived none of us could contain our excitement! The students begged me to open it and replace the old rug but that wasn't exactly an option in the middle of school day! This rug is the best tool an early childhood classroom could have.
My students have a much easier time figuring out where to sit. They have a better concept of personal space and can more easily adjust themselves when needed. For me, it has been a great classroom management tool. Now, I can easily call the students by colors and they are already separated into groups.
It has also made transitions much easier. Our old rug was not in the best shape. This one is beautiful and has really brightened up the room. I had to put tape down on the old rug to create rows which always got torn up and made the rug worse. Now, the rows are there for me. When I first requested this rug, I only had 24 students. The rug had 30 spots. Since then, my classroom has grown. I now teach 26 first graders and am so grateful that they all have a spot on the rug (with a few to spare!). We even bought a classroom vacuum to be sure that our rug stays in tip top shape! My students and I are so grateful for everyone's donations and I am sure my future classes will love this rug as much as we do!”

Fostering Reading In A Kindergarten Classroom!
Funded Jun 19, 2015This year, I was moved up from kindergarten to first grade. Among all of the challenges involved in changing grades and classrooms, there was something great that happened to remind me of what my job was really about. I received a package filled with leveled books that would be perfect for a first grade class. I did not have many materials right off the bat, so having these wonderful brand new books really helped to kick off the year. The day I received the books, I was beyond excited. My students knew they were coming and were also thrilled when the secretary brought them into the room. A group of kids helped me unpack them and soon all they wanted to do was read.
These books have helped my reading lessons so much. The small leveled books have been very helpful to teach my lower students to look for patterns in reading. The best part was that students were able to choose books that interested them. Each level set included 20 different books which meant that there were more than plenty of topics to choose from. The other set has proved especially important to first grade. The books focus on comprehension skills which can be difficult to learn. The students loved reading and discussing the stories, and the follow up work sheets have really helped them better understand the text they are reading.
This was my first donors choose project and I was blown away by the response from family, friends and complete strangers. I just want to simply say, thank you. Students in my school do not always have the same opportunities and experiences as the rest of us. Chances are, the only books they ever come in contact with are those in their classroom. By donating to my project, you made sure that the kids in my class had plenty to read. You are responsible for making their first grade experience that much more meaningful. Books are a powerful tool and because of you, my students now have access to plenty of them. Thank you again, you kindness will always be remembered.”

Mrs. Johnson
