My students are children of active members of the military. They are often faced with the challenges surrounding deployments, PTSD, and anxieties. They are learning each day how to control their emotions independently, and positively. By providing cool down corners in each classroom, I would be granting students constant access to fidget toys, and stress relievers with a 5 minute timer rule. The teacher can decide whether or not the student can use the 5 minute timer twice, giving the student 10 minutes at the cool down corner. Providing a cool down station in each room would allow the students to feel more independent when it comes to controlling their own emotions.
