Each period of schooling, elementary to high school and beyond involves encouraging students to think critically and find personal meaning and purpose. With this mindset, as a new teacher this year I want to promote student involvement in their communities whether it’s in our classroom, our school and or outside of school. I will do my best to devise lessons that will capture student interest and to motivate students to take action and responsibility for themselves, their education and the change they want to see. I want to create a warm classroom culture conducive to learning but I need help to build that classroom. I am trying to obtain supplies, tools and resources that are necessary for my students to reach their maximum learning potential. As you all probably know, or if you don't, teaching supplies are not cheap. As a first year teacher, I am coming into my first teaching job with little to no supplies for our classroom. My goal as an educator is to promote students' desire to learn by creating a positive classroom learning environment where an emphasis is placed on interactive learning and students having opportunities to take control of their learning experiences. That's why I have necessary school supplies to set up the classroom such as notebooks, writing utensils, books in both Spanish and English, bookmarks, first aid kit, and items to help decorate and showcase student learning and make the classroom a welcoming place as they continue growing as scholars. I know my students are coming from different backgrounds, circumstances and learn differently and I want to do my best in order to push those students and make the lessons and learning more accessible to diverse learners by having more resources and materials on hand as every student deserves and opportunity to learn.
