Reading is Fundamental

Funded Dec 21, 2014

I cannot tell you how much happiness you brought into the classroom. One of my girls actually squealed with excitement when she saw the "Uglies" collection, and this young lady is usually a cool cucumber. The boys that usually avoided my library because it is "boring" are now crowding around the graphic novels and they have started the chain; when one boy finishes a boy he must pass it on to the next boy. I love this camaraderie. The books have been a great asset!

Needless to say the kids have been so grateful for the new printer we dubbed him the "Great Knight" he saves the kids from a lot of stress of looking for a place to print out their work. The first thing the kids said when I took out the printer was "FINALLY", our old printer gave up on us a few days before and we were desperate. The students were sending me emails with their work to print at home. My personal printer is on strike but the technicians in Staples can fix her. I was also able to get a few friends of mine in the "business world" to donate a few reams of paper, and that was icing on the cake. Some of the students struggle with handwriting but if they type or use the voice recognition program on their phones the work produced is magnificent (when compared to the previous hand written work). It is unbelievable how a simple tool like a printer can make such a difference.

Thank you again for such a wonderful donation, it has meant the world to me but more importantly to the students. You have shown them that the world should and could be a better place if we all help each other. I am forever grateful to you all.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Larsen
