I teach special education. My kids are special for many reasons. Despite their classification, they are fighters. They try to understand the work presented but at times it is hard for them. They try. Most of my kids come from homes where money is tight and time is even tighter. Many of them don't own books. A lot of them can't go to the library because it is too far, they owe money, or they are not allowed to go out alone. I work in the same junior high I attended many years ago. I am proud of its achievements. It had it's downfalls but like my students, you cant keep them down. We are a title one school but we push ourselves to achieve more than expected.
