  • The Write Table for Us

    Funded Aug 23, 2022

An amazing huge thank you from my students and myself for all of your generous donations! This project was able to fund amazing write on tables that allow students to work in small groups with me as well as use the table as a white board to write and practice. This project has allowed us to declutter our classroom and give away all the different whiteboards we have used in the past since now we have the table to write on! The kids are always so excited when they find out they can write on the furniture! Thank you again!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shkolyar-Oricchio

  • Virtual Resources for Virtual Learners

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your help and support for the students of PS 139! This project was so helpful for me this year. With this project I was able to purchase online resources that will be used for many years to come. The resources I purchased are to support students with their phonemic awareness, reading decoding skills and fluency, vocabulary, and phonic games.

The students love to play the games and participate in the different activities and have fun while learning both in school and at home.

Thank you again for all of you help!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shkolyar-Oricchio

  • Virtual Resources for Virtual Learners

    Funded Aug 23, 2021

Thank you so much for your support for this project! This project was able to reach students across different grades and will be used for years to come! With your help I was able to buy different resources for my students.

This year I focused mainly on literacy intervention and with your help I was able to purchase fun and interactive games and activities, printable books, and parent resources that families can use at home to support their children.

I can not thank you enough for your continued support of our school and students!”

  • Special Supplies For Special Artists

    Funded Aug 11, 2020

Thank you so much for your continued support of our school and for helping my students with the materials they need to succeed. These materials have been used to help the students explore and create while using their imagination. While learning content material is important so is exploring the arts! With your support, our students are able to create beautiful projects using their skills to express themselves in ways other than writing or speaking - extremely important to have this chance in a special education classroom! Thank you again for all of your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shkolyar-Oricchio

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and one other donor.
  • Comfy Seating for the Love of Reading!

    Funded Oct 14, 2019

Oh boy, what a difference a bench can make! With your help and support my classroom has a comfy new bench that holds toys for choice time and books for reading time! Thank you so much for all of your help and donations. Excitement does not begin to describe how I felt when I saw the delivery coming! The bench has helped with a storage problem and allowed students to allow them to get their supplies independently when needed. Thank you for all of your support for my students! Look for the thank you notes in the mail! :)”

  • For the Love of Reading

    Funded Dec 26, 2019

Thank you so much for all of your generous support! With your help, my students were able to get so many books to engage them throughout the year! These books will help young readers get ready to read by looking at wordless picture books, learning how to point and think of a story. Older students will be able to read different leveled books on different topics of interest to them while still supporting the curriculum. As you can see in the picture the students were so excited to get these books and watch their library grow!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Shkolyar-Oricchio

My students attend a Title One school. Most of my students come from families from a low socioeconomic status. Our school is a caring community of successful learners which can be seen through collaborative student project based learning in and out of the classroom. Kindergarteners in my class love to work with hands-on materials and have many different opportunities to practice a skill before it is mastered. Having the social skills to work cooperatively with friends is a crucial aspect of kindergarten curriculum.
