My kids are a fun, energetic, and lively group of third graders who love to move! They all enjoy getting their wiggles out during our daily brain breaks and dance parties. However, when it is time for them to get back to work and learn the content, their only options are sitting on their chairs or on the floor in the classroom. For a few kids, this is a fine choice for them to accomplish their activities. However, most kids don’t thrive in this traditional environment. They need to feel comfortable and have some choice as to where they are going to learn. Giving them a variety of options and a voice in the classroom allows them to advocate for themselves and use problem solving skills to decide on their seat!
