When my class had to go from in-class learning to distance learning, both Scholastic News and Storyworks had digital components that worked great within a digital learning platform. My students and I loved using these materials in and out of the classroom. When reading historical fiction stories about the Civil Rights movement, I was able to expand on their learning. Storyworks and Scholastic News magazine provided stories of real people of color that have made a difference in our history. I want all of my students to feel welcomed in my class and represented as a part of the narrative we call American history.
