I am honored to be working as a librarian for an elementary school full of eager learners. Most are children of recent immigrants. Very few of our families have the time to take their children to the public library so our library and classrooms are the first place students are exposed to the joys of reading. My students are thrilled to visit the school library and check out books, helping them make connections to their interests and giving them opportunities to see other worlds. My heart flutters when I hear students say that Library is their favorite class to visit. I am a newish librarian, formerly a classroom teacher, this will be my fourth year in the library. My goal is to make the library a warm and welcoming place for children to read, ignite a passion for learning and for the children to create and be inspired.
