  • Ceramic Coil Pots

    Funded Sep 27, 2022

My students and I were so grateful for the supplies that were donated to our classroom.

There were so many colors of glazes to choose from. The glazes we're food safe and mixable. This allowed students to create unique colors and they can actually use their mugs and bowls for food or drink.

After bisque firing the ceramic bowls and mugs students added their three layers of glaze to their ceramics.

Students were so excited to see their ceramic pie es come out of the kiln to reveal gorgeous color on their pieces.

Thank you so much for giving my class the opportunity to be creative and for the supplies that were donated.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Klein

  • Printmaking Made Easy

    Funded Feb 22, 2022

Most students had never created as lino print before and many feel in love with the process. We began the process by learning about artists from the past and how to create textures on a lino plate.

Students enjoyed carving their designs into the lino plates and especially loved printing their designs onto paper. Students couldn't believe how easy it was to carve with the new gouges we received from your donations.

They were so satisfied with the printing process and loved that their print plate could be used multiple times to create prints.

Thank you so much for your generosity.”

  • Amazing Animal Sculptures

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

My students have enjoyed having rolling pins to roll out slabs for their mugs as well as roll out clay to create their animals for their mugs.

Students were overjoyed to have the tools they needed to be successful in this project.

Many students had never used clay before so this experience was such a great one for all of them.

Students were intrigued on how the mug creation would turn out and were excited to see their end results.

Students took the tools you help provide and created 3-D ceramic mugs and after creating them, we fired them and then we added glaze. Students were so excited to have many colors to choose from for their mugs. The glazes were easy to apply and students also enjoyed being able to mix colors to create new colors.

After we fired the clay a second time students were able to see their final project and take them home to drink from. Thank you so much for supporting our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Klein

  • Colorful Ceramic Mugs

    Funded Oct 28, 2021

My students were so excited to work with clay. Most students had never worked with clay before.

The students learned about ceramics, how to manipulate the clay, and how to build a ceramic mug with an animal on it.

Once we fired the clay, students were then able to choose glaze colors to paint onto their mugs.

The experience was wonderful because they had the tools to be successful.

They were so excited to see the huge variety of glaze colors that were available to them.

The glaze colors really enhanced their projects and made them so excited to take the mugs home to show their families.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Klein

  • Let the Acrylic Painting Begin!

    Funded Apr 30, 2020

My students have really been enjoying learning about Color Theory, how to mix colors and how to create new colors. Students are amazed that all colors can be made from three primary colors. They are amazed that they can make secondary colors with just two colors.

The acrylic paint that you donated to my classroom is getting used on their projects this week and next week. Students have the freedom to choose their colors and create their own color palette.

Students are learning about craftsmanship and how to use block out white to fix any errors.

Thanks you for allowing my students to learn so many valuable lessons in on e project.”

    Mrs. Klein

  • Colorful Mugs

    Funded Jan 23, 2020

Thank you so much for your generosity to my art classroom.

Students were able to design a mug with an animal on it and also glaze their mugs with any color scheme they could come up with.

Students were so happy that their mugs were something that they could take home and actually use. The glaze we used was a food safe glaze so students can eat or drink from their mugs with out any restrictions. This made creating something of a higher standard a must.

Students were so please with how the colors came out on the mugs. The colors were easy to apply and were incredibly vibrant on their mugs.

Thank you for not only giving to my classroom, but providing students with a positive ceramics experience.”

  • Japanese Dye Techniques

    Funded Jun 22, 2019

My students loved learning Shibori Dy techniques. We learned three techniques Kumo, Arashi, and itajime.

Students got to choose between the three techniques and we began dyeing fabric.

We had three colors to choose from. Some students chose to dye their fabric multiple colors. We enjoyed watching the colors mix on the fabric.

We inserted colored Popsicle sticks and wooden pieces into the Itajime fabric.

Many students loved the element of surprise when opening the fabric. May fabrics had the color bleed onto the original color.

They are so excited to take the fabric home.

    Thank you so very much.”

  • Fan-Tastic Fan Brushes

    Funded Feb 10, 2019

My students were so happy to be able to create paintings using so many wonderful colors.

Having a variety of colors available allowed them to create value in their pairings thus making it look more realistic. The students were amazed at how well they did -having the right tools.

They were also happy to be able to have the correct brushes available to create unique techniques in their paintings. Some created water splashes on the rocks and beaches, while others created trees and foliage on their landscape paintings. Having the right brushes available helped some of my students who had never painted before feel more comfortable to try new things in their work.

Thank you so mush for your contribution to my art class. As junior high students some have never taken an art class. having the right materials available for them to experiment with really makes the difference of a student liking and loving art class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Klein

  • Amazing Ceramic Animal Mugs

    Funded Dec 15, 2018

When I explained to my students that they were going to create mugs with animals and be able to use them daily, they were overwhelmed with joy.

The texture stripes were a great way to add textures to our elephants, reptiles and wood for tree dwelling animals. Adding texture to our mugs allowed for so many different looks. It was really awesome to see how they used the textures in different ways.

The sandpaper helped smooth out any rough areas on the mugs surface. When using a mug and holding it with your hand and drinking out of the top of the mug, you need the surface to be smooth to the touch. Using sandpaper helps take off any rough areas on the clay.

Thank you so much for all of the donations and allowing my students to be as creative as possible.”

  • Ours Paintings Comes to Life!

    Funded Jul 6, 2018

Thank you so very much for the art supplies from Dick Blick. The students loved being able to research the artist of their choice and create a painting that was inspired by their artist.

The excitement on their faces was so enjoyable for me when they finished their painting. the students didn't realize that they could create such wonderful paintings.

They were so happy that they had a variety of acrylic paint and nice stretched canvases to put their paintings on.

Thank you so very much for supporting my class.”

I work with 7th and 8th grade students. Many students have moved to the area for their parents jobs and therefore most are new to the area. Many of my students have not had an art class since they were small. Many have not ever had an art class. This is a great age to introduce art to them and allow them to really get into the mediums. Students are excited to learn something new that is hands on.
