"You can't blend in when you're BORN TO STAND OUT" The story, WONDER, if you haven't read it, is incredible. It teaches humility, strength, perseverance, compassion, and friendship, amongst other things. I teach 15 special needs students in a self-contained classroom in a big public school. I not only want to find authentic literature for them to relate to, but stories that also teach them to be kind and compassionate towards all they meet. This books touches on all emotions and every kid and adult, no matter what their ability, can relate to one of the characters in this story.
