School Garden? We Dig It!
Funded Apr 5, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donation! The students at Roosevelt have begun a beautification project that includes our school garden as well as a tree initiative. We have already begun weeding and laying soil in preparation for transplanting seedlings. This project is helping build the foundation for our future Philadelphia gardeners!”

We're Constructing in STEM!
Funded Jan 26, 2023I do not have the words to express my gratitude for your support for our project. We try to offer as many opportunities to our students as we can, and your support makes it possible for us to continue to do this. In my STEM class I stress that their success is more in the journey than the destination.
Our classroom worked on Rube Goldberg machines to demonstrate chain reactions and simple machines. As each team reached success, the student's pride was clearly reflected on their face.
Thank you for being part of our journey.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lynn
This classroom project was brought to life by A Philly Special Christmas and 3 other donors.STEM Builders Need Basics
Funded Dec 29, 2022STEM is a new program at Roosevelt Elementary, and your support for our program goes such a long way! My students range from grades K through 8 and the projects are diverse to suit the needs of each grade level. Surprisingly, it takes a lot of the simple things like tape, scissors, and paper to help their constructive designs be successful. My 6th grade is currently making paper roller coasters, and with 30 students, the supplies are consumed quickly. Donors like you are amazing! I wish the photos could convey the impact you made on our children.”

Colorful Creation and Design in Science!
Funded Oct 19, 2018My students and I are very grateful for the donations that helped supply our classroom. When my students opened the packages filled with crayons, markers, paper, glue and more, they were so excited to begin our creative science activities. So far, we have used the supplies to create Sun fact displays, solar system diagrams and salt water paintings. Some of our future projects include life cycle wheels, plant diagrams, research presentations and more! When students have the materials to show their knowledge in alternative ways you can really see their confidence grow.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Lynn
