Melody Monsters Part 2, is the second phase of Melody Monsters. We're creating a keyboard lab to expand our students access to creative tools. My first project, Rhythm Kids, supplied percussion instruments which were great additions, helping keep my students engaged in our music classroom activities. The drum sticks and practice pads are perfect for learning rhythms, and use both fine and gross motor skills. The Boomwackers provided the possibility to expand those lessons and incorporate pitch in ways that are fun and interactive. The activities are primarily educational, yet therapeutic for many of my students who, due to circumstances beyond their control, are often struggling with learning issues that make "typical" teacher-student/ master-novice paradigms only partially effective. My students need opportunities to do and create, becoming actively engaged in their learning process.
