  • Math Game Storage Center

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you very much for your support for this project. All of the cards for our math games are organized in drawers and file folders. This makes it easy to grab the correct materials easily and quickly. It also makes it easy to put the materials back each day.

This helps save so much time, and the students stay engaged in learning, rather than in finding the right materials.

Every little bit helps, and this file storage system makes such a huge difference in organizing for smooth transitions between games, groups and activities.”

  • Playing Math Games at Home

    Funded Nov 6, 2023

Thank you for your support with this classroom project. The kids are so excited about these materials. We've been ending each math group with a round of card games. The students have been getting really good at Addition Top It and Target. Today I gave each student a pack of cards to bring home to play the games with their families. They were so thankful and cheered! On Friday, they will be getting the game mat kits. I think they will be thankful and enjoy something fun to do over break :)

Thank you very much! Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!”

  • Mathematicians Work Hard

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

Thank you for donating to this project! The students really look forward to "prize day", and these prizes help to keep them excited. We have 4 simple expectations in our classroom:

    1) Get Started Right Away

    2) Work The Whole Time

    3) Work Quietly

    4) Clean Up After Yourself

If the students follow these expectations, they earn 1 ticket. If they don't, they can try again the next day. At the end of the week, I pull 1 ticket for each group and that student gets to pick something out of the prize bin. We have now incorporated the addition of math challenges (i.e. math homework). In my district, we can not include homework as a part of their math grade. So, I can't force them to complete homework. Instead, I make it optional and they can earn additional tickets for every task they complete. Each week, I have more and more students opting to complete their math challenges. They see their friends completing homework, and it's encouraging them to do the same. This is helping them to learn the value of hard work. Thank you so much!”

  • Math Challenges for Mathematicians

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

I gave my students their "Math Challenge Folders", and I have set out the various Math Tasks for them to take if they choose to. It is so great to see some of them have already completed them, and they come in asking me for more and more. I have had some students already do so many that I'm having a hard time keeping up with giving them extra materials to practice.

Parents are emailing me asking for extra practice for their children as well. The interesting thing is to see how they inspire each other to take on these math tasks. The students earn an extra ticket for our raffle for each assignment they complete. At first, some of the students said they did not want to do anything extra. However, when they see that their friends ask for more or they see others getting their tickets...it starts a domino effect and then more students want to take on the math tasks.

Thank you for helping this project come to life :)”

  • Basic Supplies

    Funded Nov 28, 2022

Thank you for donating these basic supplies to our classroom. The students can come into the space and they know where all of the materials are, and then they have everything they need.

I only have 30 minutes for each group, so it's important that we can get started right away and not waste any time. Having a central area for materials that the students can access is key. They can get what they need and get right to work. I can keep the room, data, and materials all organized for easy access as well.

Thank you for helping my students succeed!”

  • Collaboration Carpet

    Funded Nov 29, 2022

The carpet came in this week, and yesterday I rearranged the room to make the collaboration area.

The students loved it. They came into the room and were so excited to see it, and I heard a lot of students saying "wow"!

I'm excited to see how they can use this area to have fun playing games together and just have their own special space to work in the classroom. It's nice to give them their own space, as they often feel too crowded when we are all at the small group table together.

Thank you for helping us with this project!”

  • 3rd Grade Math Fluency

    Funded Sep 15, 2022

Thank you for your support to this classroom project. We are utilizing the fluency strategies in my math intervention groups. I am trying to encourage the students that we are building up our tools for our "math tool belt" like Batman has tools in his "bat belt". We need to attack the math problem with the right "tools". The math kit from this project gives guidance on introducing new strategies and tools.

The students came in the first day and were very insecure. They said things like, "I am bad at math" or I watched them look around nervously to copy another student. After our first lesson with this math kit, the students were excited to answer and started smiling as they yelled "I got it!". Thank you for supporting the students as they are learning that they are capable of being "good at math"!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Campbell

  • Collaboration Station

    Funded Apr 8, 2022

Thank you for your support for this project. The students LOVE working at the white board table. They get to have their own space, and they can use the table to practice their strategies. They are excited to show their thinking, and it's really fun to see their engagement increase simply due to a table.

I appreciate your support for this classroom project. I am very thankful for your support, and my students are benefitting from your generosity.

Seeing their faces light up when they "get it" is such an encouragement, and having the right tools helps them to build that confidence and understanding!”

  • Beautiful Students Deserve a Beautiful Classroom

    Funded May 8, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to this classroom project. I have been working this week on setting up these new materials. I re-organized the supplies and math manipulatives, using the new labels from this project. Those areas of the classroom look so nice and fresh! The students will be able to easily find the materials that they need, and the room looks so nice and organized at the same time. The calendar and hundreds chart will be going up next.

These items are simple, and yet they are helping to create a beautiful learning space. The students will be excited to come in and have a learning environment that looks so nice and new.”

  • Independence In Self-Care

    Funded Apr 30, 2022

Thank you for supporting this project. I have been setting up my classroom for the upcoming school year, and it is nice to have these materials available for the students on day 1.

I will be working with small groups of students for math, and having these items available will help them get focused on the learning process. They will be able to get tissues, band aids, hand sanitizer, cups for water, or a wipe whenever they need one. These will help them take care of any hygiene issues, and get right back to work without interrupting the rest of the group or the lesson.

Thank you for supporting this classroom project!”

I teach in an urban public school district as an Intervention Specialist. I taught as a classroom teacher for 9 years, and then I was given an opportunity to take on this role so that I could work with the lowest performing students in math and reading. I love my job, and it is so rewarding to see struggling students begin to succeed and grow. With the right tools and strategies, every child can succeed! We have a school that ranges from Pre-K through 5th grade. Our class sizes go up to 30 students. We work very hard to allow every child to learn, socialize, and grow together.
