  • Hard Work Incentives

    Funded Jan 12, 2025

These new prizes arrived on Friday, just in time for us to pull a name out of the ticket bin. They were so excited to see these! Their favorite so far are the fidget spinners and the mini animals:) Many of them said they would be giving the mini-animals to their younger siblings, which was very sweet to hear.

The students are doing an amazing job this year in math. They have grown so much already, and we are only halfway through the year. Some students have improved multiple grade levels already.

The growth they get to see in math has been extremely motivating for them. They are excited to set goals, and achieve them. I'm thankful that they are focused on goal setting, more than "winning prizes". However, these prizes are helping us to encourage the environment that allows them to achieve their goals. They know the expectations for our learning space, and when they reach those expectations...they earn a ticket. At the end of the week, one student gets a prize if their ticket is pulled. It's simple, but it is effective! The other students cheer on the winner and try again next week :)”

  • Math Games and Posters

    Funded Dec 4, 2024

Thank you for supporting this classroom project. The laminating pouches are very helpful to preserve posters and math games. We use games regularly in math groups, and it saves paper to be able to laminate and keep these posters to reuse.

The poster size laminating pouches are nice to create larger posters and math tools as well. We have used them for graphic organizers, charts, and more!

The students love math group, and having games easily accessible keep them engaged the whole time.

Thank you again for supporting this project!”

  • Financial Literacy Equals Successful Futures!

    Funded Nov 13, 2024

Thank you for contributing to this classroom project. These supplies are helpful to practice money, and financial literacy. We are going to use the games to reinforce money concepts in a fun way. The books will provide "real" money situations so students can connect what they are learning with real situations.

Thank you very much for supporting my students today, and in the future as they learn about finances. This is a life skill, and it would be great for them to understand finances so they can be successful and contribute in a positive way as they go to college or work in the community!”

  • Clean Hands, Spills, and Materials!

    Funded Oct 2, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to this project! My students use wipes every day to clean their tables, hands and spills!

We were running low, and now we are restocked and ready to go :) This project was funded just a few days ago, and when I came to school, the wipes were already delivered to my classroom. They are already set up in a few spots in the room for easy access and the students know how to get them when they need them. I'm very thankful for your support!

These help keep our classroom nice and clean and germ-free!”

  • A Few Little Improvements!

    Funded Jun 27, 2024

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom project. The tennis balls for the bottoms of the chairs are so helpful in noise reduction and keeping our floors in good shape. We have already replaced about 12 of the old ones from last year that fell off. The extra ones are in a drawer, and the students know that if they see a chair missing one, they know where/how to fix it!

The speakers have provided a way to play calm music in our space. The gym is next door, and sometimes it gets loud in the hallway. The speakers allow us to play instrumental music, which helps to minimize distractions.”

  • Sonic for Success!

    Funded May 23, 2024

Thank you for support with this classroom project. My student loves these materials. They are a special treat he gets to use at the end of the day as an incentive to improve his habits of learning a little bit each day. One of my favorite things to see, was the student excitedly wanting to invite peers to play. This is a student that did not talk much at the beginning of the year, and had many walls up. Last week, he was happily chatting with a friend, and showing them all of the Sonic toys, and "teaching" him how to play with them. The boys were reading one of the stories together, and using the characters to re-create a story through play, and definitely enjoyed the fruit snacks!

As this year is coming to a close, I plan on continue using them next year. I believe that I will be a "buddy" teacher for this student, and I am hoping he will be just as excited to use them next year.”

  • Hard Work Incentives

    Funded May 8, 2024

Thank you for your support for this project. My students were so excited to see the new prizes. They have made a lot of growth this year, especially in math. I am excited to see how far they have come since September. Although they truly seem to enjoy the learning process in math, they do enjoy the perk of prize day :)

The idea of earning a ticket for showing strong work habits, helps them to stay focused even when they don't want to. However, I am happy to report that more often than not, they are sad when math group ends, and ask if they can stay longer to keep working. The prizes are a nice bonus for the end of the week, but they genuinely are just having fun in the learning process.”

  • Multiplication and Division Story Problem Components for Intervention

    Funded Apr 16, 2024

Thank you for donating to this project. These tools for our Multiplication and Division Story Problem kit are extremely useful. The components help with the activities and the games for the volume. The graphic organizers are especially helpful as they support students to be able to organize their thinking. Students learn how to apply number sense to the story problem.

I have found that organizing their thinking around number sense in a story problem, takes a huge amount of practice. These graphic organizers are really helpful for repeated practice in this area.”

  • Basic Supplies for Everyday Activities

    Funded Feb 26, 2024

Thank you so much for your support with this project! The students come to math group and have everything they need so we can maximize the learning experience. They have pencils and markers to complete their work. When they need tissues, they can get them quickly and easily. The baby wipes are used to clean up spills, sanitize, and wipe down the tables. It's nice to be able to have each of these items organized throughout the room so the students can get what they need, take care of any problems, and keep learning!”

I teach in an urban public school district as an Intervention Specialist. I taught as a classroom teacher for 9 years, and then I was given an opportunity to take on this role so that I could work with the lowest performing students in math and reading. I love my job, and it is so rewarding to see struggling students begin to succeed and grow. With the right tools and strategies, every child can succeed! We have a school that ranges from Pre-K through 5th grade. Our class sizes go up to 30 students. We work very hard to allow every child to learn, socialize, and grow together.
