Funded Apr 3, 2023My student's were so excited to see the new books as I took them out of the boxes and displayed the front covers. The students smiled, clapped their hands, and asked if they could read them. My students and I sat in a circle on the carpet, examine and discussed the title and illustrations of each new book. My student were happy to have new reading materials to add to our library area.
One student notice a new book titled, 'My Hair Twin' it was a book with a father and daughter with the same hairstyle on the front cover. The student pointed to the book and said, "that girl hair is made just like her daddy's. I am going to go home and ask my daddy to fix his hair just like mines." When she came to school the next day she said, "Teacher my daddy put his locs in a rubber band just like mines. Now we are twins just like the book. At Choice Time the student walked over into the Library Area, grabbed the 'My Hair Twin' book laid it on her lap and turned the pages.
In a early learning classroom it's very important to have a variety of books for children to explore. It helps promote literacy in the classroom and get the students interesting in reading at an early age. I am so thankful to all the donors who contributed to our new reading materials.”
