  • Community Puzzle

    Funded Oct 20, 2024

Thank you so much for your support with my project! This will take library programming to the next level. I envision students, educators and families working together in problem solving these puzzles together. Creating a greater already encouraging and supportive library environment. Our scholars will be thrilled to this new addition in library programming.”

  • The Confidence Within Me!

    Funded Mar 23, 2024

Thank you again for your support with my project to help build confidence for my students. The young women in 4th and 5th grade received the most support with the items. With the girls group meeting once a week, that allowed young ladies who normally don't hang out turn into friends and mentors in a few short weeks. The young men in the school who received toiletry bags felt special and encouraged to be able to feel better knowing they smelled good. Overall the items from the project helped build a stronger sense of community upon the upper grades.”

  • Creative Minds

    Funded May 9, 2024

Thank you so much for making my project come alive for my scholars. They were so excited today when I told some of them they will be able to create their own bags, t-shirts or cups. You have really help make a change in our students creativity. We can't thank you enough.”

  • Back to Basics!

    Funded Sep 15, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting my project. My students greatly appreciate the new assorted color crayons. They have taken our students coloring and drawing pictures to another level. I have made the art teacher jealous because not even he has the the colors that I have and students are not interested in coloring in "those boring colors", one student said. I have gotten several inquiries from parents on where I got my new color crayons from because their child wanted these new crayons Ms. Henry has. They have been all the rave this school year.”

  • Music to My Ears

    Funded Sep 30, 2022

I can't express how much of a change the materials from my project has changed my programming with my students from PreK3-5th grade. Students in Prek are enjoying their dancing opportunities they have and the opportunity to listen to different types of much during library time. I am able to use the microphone to project my voice during large programs. Students have used the microphone to work on their public speaking, for example our students participated in a local poetry slam and we practice during library time.”

  • Sensory Adaptive Fun!

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to my project and supporting my students. The sensory toys were a hit with my most active students. Once they arrived, I showed and shared with my students in 1st grade who would make the most use of them. They helped me place them in a small treasure chest that they suggested where to place it in the library for their use. Students were motivated to make good choices during the lessons if they had a toy to keep them focus discreetly during class.

Overall, without your support my highflyer students would have had a struggle during their library time.”

  • Bonus Books

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

Thank you for supporting my vision for my pre-kindergarten students with encouraging love of reading and library. All pre-kindergarten students were so excited to receive a book and actually go home with the book. Parents were happy to have the new books for their child to read for bedtime and have to read with siblings.

We did a tour of the library with Pre-Kindergarten 4 in June and all students received another book for them to have for summer reading. This was an opportunity for students to see the library and prepare them for kindergarten.”

  • Graphic Novels to the Rescue

    Funded Dec 3, 2021

Thank you so much for donating and supporting my project. The new and popular graphic novels were a hit with 4th and 5th girls and boys. The students were in love with the new and old titles so much that the students even shared the books among grade levels. Students took advantage of the opportunity to read books they actually like when they visited the library, and some wanted to come back during their lunch and recess breaks.

Overall, graphic novels are the way to a child's heart for reluctant readers.”

  • Literacy Game Changer

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you for donating to my project. My 1st and 2nd grade students loved playing Sight Word Bingo and wanted to play every week during library class. One student commented that they had actually learned how to spell some of the sight words because we had played it a few times and they just kept seeing the words. Teachers were able to see the student's growth including new words in their work because of Sight Word Bingo and Boggle games.

We were able to have our art teacher paint and build the little free library and we plan on having an unveiling sometime this spring.”

  • Preschool Reading

    Funded Sep 28, 2021

My preschool students and parents fell in love with the idea about receiving books to help cultivate a love of reading and to start their own home libraries. Students were able to choose 2 books during the library class to take home and were so excited about the selections they had. Parents were very appreciative of the books so much that several parents told me that they went out and purchased little bookshelves for their child to place a safe place to put their books. Parents also have taken their children to varies book outlets to purchase more books after school and on weekends.”

The students in Pre-K3-2nd grade will have the opportunity to hear books being read by characters in the books via the puppets. We have students who first language is Spanish and are learning in English in school. I want to use the puppets to help these students to learn English through puppet characters. They will get to touch the puppets and I hope fully this will make the students comfortable with learning a new language. I also believe the puppets will help some of the behavioral and autistic students to be engaged positively with reading. Additional Spanish books help the collection.
