Raising the Bar!
Funded Mar 1, 2022Thank you all so much for bringing another project to life in the music classroom. While the students enjoy collaborating with their peers, individual time spent on an instrument can foster musical growth in other important ways.
The students were overjoyed when they saw another new xylophone to use in the classroom. Even though we received it toward the end of the school year, we still were able to use it for several final lessons of the year.
Students used these types of instruments on a second grade lesson about making up a lunch menu. By using different food items to pack in a lunch, students got improvise on the xylophones in a pentatonic scale (five-note scale).
We look forward to many more lessons using these types of instruments!”

Funded Dec 28, 2020As soon as our instruments started arriving, the students were eager to start using them in the classroom! Second grade had a "Sally Go Round the Sun" lesson in which they were able to put their steady beat onto the xylophones while many other activities in the room were taking place.
The students were wide-eyed as the boxes were opened right in front of them and the new instruments were demonstrated. We were able to cover proper handling of the instruments, mallet holding technique and playing technique on the first day. This will ensure our instruments last a long time and stay in good condition.
All grades (K-4) are currently are incorporating them in many ways throughout their music lessons. Students are very excited to share their experiences on the new instruments with their families upon returning home from their school day.”

Funded Feb 28, 2020Thank you so much for all of your support with your donations. We have managed to obtain an essential piece of audio equipment for all of our future musicals. The wireless mic system will provide amplification to our students voices in a performing environment where they wouldn't be able to be heard very well at all. The wireless aspect will also release the constraints of having to run several audio cords all over the performance area. All of the hard work the students put in to bringing their story to life will now be able to be heard by all who attend!”

Crank Up the Bass!
Funded Nov 29, 2018Our music room has been transformed by your generosity. The students' reactions were priceless as they heard the contra basses sound for the first time. The low range of the instruments bring out a new depth of sound to our ensemble playing in the classroom. They also help by grounding the steady beat across the group in the numerous types of lessons and activities in the classroom. The new instruments also give more opportunities for students to play at the same time. Thank you for your care of fostering the development of the music program at our school!”

Can We Get a Beat?
Funded Jan 25, 2018As soon as our instruments started arriving the students were eager to start using them in the classroom! The very first class that able to use the instruments was second grade. They had a rhythmic poem lesson in which they were able to play the different rhythms of the poem on their new drums. These types of lessons used to be limited to them patting on their legs since we didn't have these types of drums before in the music room.
The students were wide-eyed as the boxes were opened right in front of them and the new instruments were played on that same day. We were also able to cover proper handling and care of the instruments along with proper playing technique. This will ensure our instruments last a long time and stay in good condition.
Beyond other lessons we will be doing in music class, our fourth grade performing ensemble is also using the drums for their Spring concerts. They have a song that will incorporate the new drums and the students are very excited to share music on them with their families and friends that will be attending the concerts.”

Funded Mar 9, 2016As soon as our instruments started arriving the students were eager to start using them in the classroom! The very first class that able to use the instruments was kindergarten. They had a "Rain on the Green Grass" lesson in which they were able to put "rain rhythms" onto the different types of xylophones/metallophones/glockenspiels and perform them individually and in small groups.
The students were wide-eyed as the boxes were opened right in front of them and the new instruments were demonstrated. We were able to cover proper handling of the instruments, mallet holding technique and playing technique on the first day. This will ensure our instruments last a long time and stay in good condition.
Beyond other lessons we will be doing in music class, all grades (K-5) are currently working on music for their Spring concerts. Many of the songs will incorporate the new instruments and the students are very excited to share music on the new instruments with their families that will be attending the concerts.”
