STEM Fun for First Grade
Funded Jan 30, 2019Thank you all for your help! My students were so thrilled to hear the news when the email arrived this morning. We will be able to turn my class into a more engaging place where the students will be able to work with their hands, challenging themselves and express creativity through engineering design. My goal is to use all of these materials in an exciting and appropriate way that will fuel student creativity, engagement, critical thinking and problem solving skills. But most of all MOTIVATION!”

A Rug for Everyone
Funded Jan 30, 2014I am so grateful for your donations to my project. It's wonderful to see that you share my vision for reaching children. The moment my students walked into the classroom and saw the brand new rug they were elated, THRILLED that someone thought enough of them to provide our classroom a new rug. They immediately started saying what color they wanted to sit on, and now morning meetings, circle time will be awesome because we don't have to sit on the old stained rug. During Magnet school tours every visitor that came into our room the students made sure they knew that our new rug was a gift from our special friends. One of my students shared that he will try to do his best to keep it clean. Now every student in the class is doing their best to keep the rug clean.
The new rug has added lots of warmth and comfort to our classroom during our morning meetings, read aloud and lessons at the front of the classroom . The students have their own spot and they can sit in comfort and ease while listening to their favorite story, singing along to our morning songs, working with manipulatives during literacy/math workstations.
The carpet has helped provide structure and defined space for each child while we have our morning meeting, calendar time and story read aloud time on the rug, talking to our collaborative partners. The students were gravitating toward the carpet and sitting quietly and reading their book on a color. Having a define space has helped me as teacher in my effort to teach my students appropriate classroom behavior. I don't hear He's touching me!, She's not in her right spot!. It has helped my students stay in their own space when we're learning together. A great classroom management tool! It has made my classroom more warm and inviting.”
