Updating Supplies for Next Year
Funded Aug 26, 2022Thank you so much for all your donations. This project was based on basic necessities our classroom needed. Many of the supplies on this list would be things that I would go out and purchase from my own pocket. They weren't necessarily items that are needed to be able to teach, but they are items we use daily. So as an underpaid teacher, I truly thank you for helping keep that cost out of my pocket. The tissues, sanitizing wipes and hand sanitizer were especially key in helping our classroom especially when the flu became rampant in the community. We used white boards during math daily so it was especially nice to have a continued supply of markers so that every student could continue in their routine. The storage bings helped give every supply a new home so that even the students knew where things were placed if they needed to replenish their supplies.”

Funded Mar 26, 2022Thank you so much for you absolutely generous donation! We just returned from spring break and all the boxes of books were waiting for me. My students saw the stacks of books as they walked and they were so excited! They kept asking me all day if the new books were for them to use and when was I going to put them into our classroom library. By the end of the day almost all the new books were being read by the students. I no longer have students fighting over the Dog Man Series books because I have plenty for them to read. They are happy to be reading, which makes me so grateful for your donation!”

Headphones Needed!
Funded Mar 3, 2022Thank you so much for all your donations and getting this project funded so quickly! The students use their computers everyday, multiple times throughout the day and with that has been a lot of wear and tear of their headphones. Many of my students' headphones have broken and then without them they have to either keep their volume off or turned down low. Even with that it causes a distraction to many other students while they're trying to do their own activities. The simple fact of them having new headphones have made many of my students very happy (especially those whose ear piece covers I had to tape on so they could still use them)!!”

Classroom Necessities
Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for your donations. My students were so excited to get a warm hat, scarf, and gloves. It arrived in perfect time so my students could stay warm in the winter. They have been learning responsibility in keeping track of their items and taking care of them too. All the food items have been a great help in making sure my students aren't staying hungry. It was especially helpful this week as we had a 2-hour delay and on those days the school doesn't provide breakfast. Yet many of my students don't have breakfast at home, thankfully with these donations all my students were able to have something to eat!”

Funded Sep 23, 2021Thank you so much for all your donations. A lot of what I received is being used during center time so that I can have various students working on skills within their level. This allows me time to pull students one-on-one or in small groups for remediation. The pandemic has caused a learning loss like I've never seen before. I'm striving to help get these students back on track while making sure to be conscious of the emotional toll cause by the pandemic. The students are enjoying these centers and will actually ask to use them, which make the learning more enjoyable for them. So again, thank you!”

Funded Aug 30, 2021Thank you so much for your donations in helping get this project funded so quickly. It has truly been a lifesaver having these storage bins in my classroom. Now each of my students have their own place that is new their seat to keep all their supplies. This was much needed for this school year since students are not allowed to share any supplies due to Covid-19. The students have quickly learned how to use their bin and are learning organizational skills in order to be able to find their supplies within their bin.”

Funded Apr 30, 2021Thank you so much for all your donations in order to fund the end of year gifts for my students. This past school year was one like no other and my students took it all in stride. They were amazing kids and adapted so well to being virtual and then hybrid with some students in the room learning while others were still home learning virtually. I was so glad I was able to give each of my students a little something to say goodbye for the school year that they could use for their summer! All of my students were so excited to receive their gifts and I know they enjoyed them! So thank you again for your help!”

Safety First
Funded Mar 31, 2021Thank you all for your donations. My students were so excited to see the new masks. They even told me they smelled good! These masks fit so much better than the ones many of mine had and they no longer have to keep adjusting their masks throughout the day or worry about them falling off. My students have been very good about making sure to clean their area and keep their hands cleaned throughout the day. By them having their own personal bottle of sanitizer it helps cut down on the amount of students having to get up out of their seat and the multiple hands touching the same bottle. These donations have helped me and my students feel safer in the classroom, so thank you again for your help in getting these items so quickly!”

Diverse Characters Matter
Funded Jun 20, 2020Thank you so much for your donations in helping to purchase these books with diverse characters for my classroom library. Unfortunately due to Covid, my students have been able to access the books hands-on as our county has remained virtual this school year. I have been able to read some of the picture books aloud to my students and they were highly engaged. Some of our favorites include the Big Bright Feelings series, When Penny Met POTUS, and The Big Bed. I can't wait till my students are back in the classroom and discover each of these books on their own. I know that each student will be able to find themselves in at least one of the books as well as learn about those from other cultures. Especially after the events of this year, I wanted to make sure my students know that they are valued and by having books with characters like themselves it can help them to see that.”

Headphones for Virtual Learning
Funded Aug 11, 2020Thank you so much for your donations in helping get each of my students a set of headphones. Many of my students don't have a designated space to work and are working at the kitchen table, the sofa, or a shared bedroom with siblings. Many families have multiple students learning from home or parents working from home. All of this creates a much louder environment that my students have to work in than would be in the classroom. The headphones allow students to help hear what is being said during our Zoom calls and it helps block out distractions happening in their homes. The headphones have been a huge asset in helping my students to learn and participate better in our Zoom classroom.”
