Graphic novels will appeal to reluctant readers as well as to students who are already successful readers. Students will be guided through Tintin and the Secret of the Unicorn while we learn about the parts of the novel and narrative writing. At the end of the unit, students will write a narrative essay that continues the story of Tintin's adventures with an emphasis of continuity of characters with the same characteristics, as well as a continuity of narrative flow. Students will be graded with a Common Core Standards rubric in order to ensure their success with their writing. Students will also be working on their comprehension skills, literary devices, and parts of the novel.
