Making the Best of Virtual Learning
Funded Oct 9, 2020First, my students and I would like to say thank you for your generous donation of copies the children's book No Way, Jib Wired Headphones, Magic Boards, teacher-pay-teacher gift card, and a set of 12 fiction/nonfiction books. What better way to motivate students to read than by giving them content of their interest and that they can relate to. Your donation covers a wide range of learning assistance tools that can help students to work more effectively or work in conjunction with other materials used to help students learn. Especially, the gift card being utilized to purchase support materials for student success.
In our classroom the students love books because they understand reading is fundamental to their success because of the daily reading challenges they face. The students read leisurely, for information, and many times we read use audio books to read them for better understanding. So that the students don't have any distractions they're able to now use Jib Wired headphones while reading audio-books which will help with comprehending what they've just read.
All the students are enjoying the support materials because at the end of the day although the students may have specific learning difficulties the support you've provided will assist the students with processing and remembering information.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Harris

Funded Jun 28, 2020First, my students and I would like to say thank you for your generous donation of copies the children's book No Way! to add to our library. What better way to motivate students to read than by giving them content of their interest and that they can relate to. Some skills introduced would be learning about character traits and what makes the character who they are. No Way! revolved around students learning about being motivated to learn and learning self-worth and although you have dyslexia doesn't mean you still can't be successful in the end.
In our classroom the students love books because they understand reading is fundamental to their success because of the daily reading challenges they face. The students read leisurely, for information, and many times we read use audio books to read them for better understanding.
All the students are enjoying reading No Way! because they can relate to it. No Way! is the endearing children's tale of a little boy who can only dream of being a better reader—until he is helped by someone who changes his life forever.”

Funded Jul 24, 2020My students and I want to thank you you from the bottom of our hearts. While working with studnets with dyslexia, I've learned that assistive technology is a key player in their academics. The Lonovo Chromebook 14' Touchscreen has made learning more interactive and collaborative and this has helped my students better engage with course material. Rather than memorizing, they learn by me sharing information virtually. For some students, the interactivity of being able to share my screen provided a better learning experience.
The students were excited about the Chromebook because it allowed me to be flexible with teaching by sharing various websites and materials virtually. This enabled my students to work in a more collaborative manner but in a virtual way.
The Lonovo Chromebook offered me a way to individualize curriculum and customize it to the needs of my individual students so that all of my students with dyslexia could achieve their potential. Again, we say thank you for helping us to stay connected during this global pandemic.”

Funded Oct 31, 2018We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for donating Simply Economy View Binders and an electrical sharpener to our small group classroom. Having the binders and electric sharpener in my classroom has truly made a difference with students being organized and feeling successful, and I wanted to thank everyone involved for their support! The benefits these binders brought my students were immeasurable. Because of them, my students are able to keep all of their work in one place and that just helps them to be less frustrated since they are struggling readers.
In small group classes, we use dyslexia curriculum that have many different components and since the binders are 3 inches the students are able to use dividers to keep up with the many areas. Since the students are dyslexic they sometimes have problems with keeping up with papers but having binders allows them to stay on track and be organized. If they are absent they don't have to ask me or another student what was missed, they can just look at the agenda in the binder.
In addition to this, my students really benefit from using the binders because I can place their customized lessons to fit their needs in their binders.
Again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity when donating to my classroom. My students and I are so appreciative of your support!”

Funded Mar 27, 2018We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for donating four Chromebooks to our small group classroom at the end of 2018 school year. Having the Chromebooks in my classroom has truly made a difference and I saw growth in my students towards the end of the year when we got them, and I wanted to thank everyone involved for their support! The benefits these Chromebooks brought my students were immeasurable. Because of them, my students are able to use learning websites that increase their confidence in their work since they are struggling readers.
In small group classes, we use virtual library and the students are able to choose live books and hear them being read to them. By having Chromebooks students are able to inquire, discover, read, view, and listen to books in a 21st Century learning environment.
In addition to this, my students really benefit from me using Nearpod.com with the Chromebooks where I am able to customize lessons to fit their needs. Since we have access to Chromebooks I am able to synchronize and control lessons across all student devices.
Again, thank you so much for your kindness and generosity when donating to my classroom. My students and I are so appreciative of your support!”
