Giving Girls Flag Football a Chance
Funded Sep 26, 2020First of all, thanks again so very much for your assistance and financial support. With the new football gear we will be better prepared for heading into the upcoming season. And it looks like we may just have one!
With schools across the country being closed to students and student activities, this is really going to help. School budgets are suffering, programs being cut, but not ours! Not ours because of your kindness, thoughtfulness, and program assistance.
The nights are turning cooler, leaves are beginning to change, and that's right...football is in the air! Thanks again!”
With gratitude,
Mr. Wheelock

Funded Sep 16, 2020We cannot thank you enough for helping this project come to light. Students can now take these rocket kits and transform them into a flying version of the SpaceX Crew Dragon. Rocket construction will be the culmination of our Space Exploration Science Unit.
The word is "elated"....or "excited"....perhaps "thrilled" would define the reaction from my students. We are off and flying thanks to you! Many of the students have never had an opportunity such as the one you helped provide. Model rocketry is alive and well!
Thanks once again for supporting our classroom and Donor's Choose!”

Funded Dec 21, 2017Well, we didn't win, but we sure had fun! The team was fired up on the first day of the tournament and won our first game 7-0. It was a defensive battle to be sure. The following day we were seated third and lost a tough one in over-time 13-7, so to the lower bracket we went. Our final game as it turned out was another "barn burner" 7-0. Bummer was, our starting quarterback went out Friday night with a sprained wrist.
One of the greatest highlights was being able to bring a couple Freshman team players along with us and provide them with valuable playing experience at the next level. Good news, after the tournament both young ladies were given a spot on Junior Varsity.
This experience, thanks to you donors, offered the team a chance to bond, laugh, cry, and celebrate together. The direct result was a more focused team, strong and productive friendships, and a launch into the rest of the regular season.
Once again, many thanks!”

Funded Sep 1, 2017I am extremely thankful for your kindness in helping purchase drones for our class. We are using the drones for learning and to learn sportsmanship and leadership. The class flies the drones in competitions. We also learn new technology by learning the controls of the device. The most exciting thing about this project is that the club gets to fly in the gym and outside.
The stage our project is at right now is learning how to fly the quad-copters so we can get better at it. Also, we are studying the owner's manual and instruction for the new remote controls. In conclusion, Thank you for this donation and we are having fun learning about this new technology.
Sincerely, Jake
I wish to express my gratitude to those who were so motivated and generous to donate to our program. Thanks to you we got six new drones, extra batteries, and a 6 port charger! Now we can have really cool competitions and get the club going.
The new technology gives us a great topic to converse about with our friends. They also give us the opportunity to further enhance our knowledge of R/Cs and the new careers that are out there because of them. Thank you so much for opening up so many doors for us. We are truly grateful. -Jacob
We appreciate your donations. Our class went over the owner's manual and learned how to fly the quad-copters. We can now practice with the new drones.
The most exciting part of the quads is being able to fly them! For my classmates I can say, they are excited too. The new drones also helps us get a club going for the whole school. I can't wait until it starts.

Going Green: Electric Qbike
Funded Nov 18, 2016My science class and the projects we do have been very fun. I have learned how to hook up an electric hub motor and to build a Qbike. Thank you for choosing my classroom with your support.
The uses for the technologies we received through donations include; running an electric hub motor, or we could use the motor to power alternative energies and that would be really awesome to do. The Qbike is completed and the motor has been put on, it is ready to roll!
As far as my favorite part of this project is being able to ride and drive something that we built with our own hands!”

Funded Nov 20, 2015As a class, we would like to thank you once again and provide an update as to where our project is now.
Since arriving the materials have been unpacked, inspected, and discussed. We discussed how this project, once completed, will help to beautify the school grounds and entry way, will involve 4 classrooms and over 50 students directly, plus it will just look good.
We have begun to set up the different growing environments and make plans and a timeline for getting things going. Students had a chance to pick "plants" of choice, vegetables, flowers, and herbs that they would like to see in the gardens. Seeds have been purchased and received through donations and we are preparing for the plant 'starters' that we will receive from a local nursery.
To date, we have learned how to care for plants, how to start and grow plants in different mediums and environments, and last fall got to taste some of what we will be growing on a much larger scale. To the donors and to DonorsChoose; thanks once again!”

Funded Mar 25, 2015What can I (we) say but, Thank You so very much! Can you say speechless? Not only was this our most enthusiastic undertaking to date, but one we really thought would never get funded. Yet thanks to you the students will literally see a dream come true in the form of a solar/electric hub motor for our quadricycle. I don't know who cheered the loudest, myself our the students. We cannot say thank you enough.
Students began the school year with a refit and remodel of the 'qbike' which included a paint job, adding to the suspension, and researching (dreaming) about the 'next' stage. Today we celebrate making stage 2, the motor. Students will be supervised as they facilitate the addition of the motor, lithium battery pack, controller, and of course....road testing.
The direct result of this opportunity is already being felt as new interest areas and subjects of research surface for the students. Talk about hands-on-learning....thx to you we're "stepping into the future of transportation" and reducing a least one 'carbon footprint.'”
With gratitude,
Mr. Wheelock
STEM Alternative Energy Labs
Funded Nov 21, 2014What can we say...except THANK YOU! The students were literally in tears when they discovered their project request had been funded so quickly!
Because of your generosity they are planning the solar power car labs and follow-up labs...exploring their options in wind and water labs-projects-science fairs...the list goes on.
Alternative energy is the wave of the future and these students are now going to be exposed not only through text and video, but also with hands-on STEM applications and experiences. We owe it you...our awesome donors. Thanks again for supporting our classroom and all the projects a DonorsChoose.org!”

Funded Nov 10, 2014The cheers erupted as the door opened and in came one box after another. Excitement filled their eyes as first tape then packing paper was peeled back. "Alright!" "Check this out!" said one then another as students reached for instruction manuals and owner's guides. The short of it; we owe it all to you!
Thanks to your generous donations plans are in place for a series of experiments, projects, and special reports...and all "hands-on" because you chose our project to donate to. Thanks you so much!
The students would truly not have had this opportunity without your support!”

Funded Mar 24, 2014First I have to say thank you to DonorsChoose and the wonderful people and organizations like yourselves that continue to support education. It's hard to describe the excitement witnessed when the students received news that the project had been funded. They knew that as a result the Aerospace Club was going to be able to have multiple flight operations and have new rockets for the incoming members. Their eyes lit up as they pulled back the tape and opened the boxes. "Cheers all around" was the word of the day and "like kids at Christmas" they lined everything up to examine things more closely.
As we move into the third year of our Aerospace Club our fleet was beginning to look a bit "used." With the twelve new rockets, not only do we update our fleet, but put a rocket into the hands of student engineering prospects that might not otherwise have had the opportunity. The motors will allow the club to launch their designs, and kits brought from home, into the heights. Tracking altitude, making estimations and predictions, and experimenting with new design concepts all become a reality through your support!
Putting what having your support and what this does for a teacher's ability to have students engaged and interacting with the lessons into a sentence I would say, "excite-arific-scientific" The countdown have begun '3-2-1' and thanks once again to all the supporters and especially DonorsChoose!”
