The Stone Age vs. The Age of Technology
Funded Oct 24, 2014My students were so excited to finally receive the Samsung pads and headphones. They could hardly wait to get their hands on them. One student said she has never used such a little computer! They felt like these were just their size.
Already I have downloaded several learning apps that the students are using in small groups to reinforce what they are learning in the classroom. Everything from shapes and letters to sight words.
My kindergarten students are using the notebooks to read beginning books using the Kindle app. They are able to read leveled books which has really improved their reading ability and increased their enthusiasm for learning to read.
Thank you so much for making this possible for my class this year. Your generosity has impacted so many lives and especially 25 little ones.”

Creating Baby Wozniaks
Funded Nov 2, 2012I want to personally thank you for your support of my class project. You have no idea how you have impacted my students in science this year. Pre-Kindergarteners love learning about science but in years past I have had a very meager science center. This year not only have my students used it but also many of the other teachers have come into my room and said how they wished their science center was as interactive as mine. I love it!
Science fascinates children at all levels but I think especially with this age group. To a child everything is new and mysterious. Students need discovery experiences that are intrinsically interesting and fun, and that also lead to questioning and a desire to know more. Children need to make the connections and develop logical thinking. They must also experience and discover and wonder and question themselves, using their own senses, and not once, but many, many times. An exciting and interactive science center allows students to discover on their own as well as in teacher led experiences.
I hope the photos that I have uploaded give you an idea of the how much my students enjoy using these materials you support bought. As they work with the materials, they are learning to take turns with their peers as well as make discoveries.
I cannot tell you how much it means to me that you have supported my classroom this year. As you may or may not know, Pre-K programs are very costly for a school district and many times there is no funding to purchase "extras" you have funded. But what a difference these little "extras" make in the education of children!
From the bottom of my heart I thank you for your generosity”
With gratitude,
Ms. Whitley
