Snack Attack!
Funded Sep 16, 2024Thank you so much for your continued support of me and my students!
With this assortment of snacks, my students love our early release Wednesdays and seeing which snack they will get. These snacks are also great to use for students who are hungry and didn't get a chance to eat breakfast. They are convenient and easy to distribute. I also have a student who has lots of food allergies so the oreos are such a treat for him since he is allowed to eat them.
Thanks again for always supporting me and my students. We really appreciate you!”

Classroom Essentials
Funded Aug 15, 2024Thank you so much for giving gifts to help fund this project! With your generosity, my classroom runs smoothly and kids have what they need to succeed!
We have enough tissues to last us through the cold and flu season. We have enough wipes to clean our tables twice a week throughout the year. Caddies are stocked with Jumbo crayons, skin color crayons and markers so kids can choose what they want to use to color and chat on most mornings. Students have homework folders that they bring back to school each day to stay responsible with morning work, homework and paperwork for families. Prizes keep students motivated. Students earn dragon dollars for following school rules and then use their dragon dollars to go shopping in our class store.
Thank you again for making my classroom function smoothly!”

I have also been able to expand my store to 3rd grade students and also 5th graders too! Students feel motivated to make positive choices academically and social emotionally on their own and with others. They feel a sense of pride and accomplishment when they can spend their dragon dollars and buy whatever they want. Again, a huge thank you for making this happen!”

Funded Aug 25, 2023Thank you for your generous gifts! These supplies have helped us tremendously in our day to day operations in the classroom. With these essential items, students can come to school every day and have what they need so they can focus their energy on learning and academics.
These basic items like tissues and cleaning wipes, crayons, markers and erasers for white boards may seem like trivial items but they contribute greatly to how my classroom operates. When students don't have to worry about where to get these materials from, that barrier is removed and they can focus on learning. We are thrilled to have what we need and not worry about where to get these items from. Now on to all the learning!
Thank you again for your generosity and for thinking of my second graders!”

Fun Math Access
Funded Oct 2, 2019We are thrilled to have access to IXL Math during our math rotations each day! Students are able to review important math skills on their own while earning badges at their own level and speed. They are able to choose which problems they want to practice and recommended problems meet students where they are at. Students are challenged appropriately and as the teacher, I am able to check on student progress on my end daily if I want to. IXL also sends weekly emails to let me know how the class is doing as a whole and provides information on individual students, what they worked on, what they had issues with and what they did successfully. I am able to connect with students each week and let them know that I monitor their work so that they can be responsible with their time. Second graders can also continue practice at home on a computer/laptop or tablet/phone using the app. Students feel successful because they are able to access the content in an engaging way and if students get a problem incorrect, the answer is explained to them so that they can try again. This technology is engaging, student friendly, and easy to use. My students love going on IXL to show what they know, practice skills they have learned, and learn new skills. We want to thank you again for your generous gifts that helped fund this resource!”

Funded Oct 26, 2018We are thrilled to add these high quality and engaging books to our classroom! My second graders love reading and they love these new books! So far, I have read several fairy tales aloud and we have made text-to-text comparisons between the different versions of Jack and the Beanstalk, Red Riding Hood, and The Tortoise and the Hare. In an upcoming writing unit, students will be able to write their opinions about the father from Hansel and Gretel and state whether or not they think he is more good or more evil using examples from the book. I've also used a couple books as read alouds to talk about feelings and managing emotions like Tough Guys Have Feelings Too and I am Human: A Book of Empathy. Students also love to laugh at the silly books like Dude!, Creepy Carrots and Creepy Pair of Underwear! They love reading independently or partner reading and sharing their opinions and discoveries with a friend. Having these engaging books has made the classroom cozier and come to life. My students and I thank you, thank you, thank you for making this project become a reality and bringing these books to us!”

Scholastic News and the World
Funded Aug 24, 2017Thank you so much for your generous gift to help fund this project! My students love reading about holidays, important people in history, jobs, community and cool animals through their Scholastic News magazines. They love learning about the world around them and they are so excited to share what they already know! It sparks lots of discussions during this time.
When it's time to read Scholastic News, we have a shared reading on the rug. We talk about the text features that we see, read the captions in the photographs and answer the questions on the back using the interactive Scholastic News feature on the website. They especially love the short videos! When students return to their desks they answer the questions on the back. At the end of the day, they take the readers home to continue practicing their nonfiction reading of grade level texts. Sometimes we also play the interactive game and students love showing what they've learned!
Scholastic News really helps students make connections during Nonfiction reading and writing units. It serves as an additional resource that's well made and helps initiate rich discussion for my students. The topics are really accessible and my students love learning about things in the world around them and sharing what they already know.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity. We really do appreciate it!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Tiao
