  • iPads for Music Education

    Funded Jan 24, 2020

Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. We have already been able to use our new iPad in centers groups. Students have been able to practice identification of basic music symbols, composition, and improvisation using different apps. It is just awesome to see how excited everyone gets when we get out the iPads and they are able to create their own song and share it with others! Thank you again for supporting our musical growth and our confidence in creating music by helping to provide us with this valuable tool.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angel

  • Music and Technology

    Funded May 19, 2018

We so appreciate your generous donations! We have been using our new classroom iPad for centers, individual practice with basic music skills, and composition projects. This new iPad has provided us with the opportunity to complete one of our favorite composition projects and incorporate hands on technology for each group of students! We love being able to use the iPad as a reward and to promote teamwork in groups! Each and every student at our school is so thankful for the kindness you have shown to us through your donations.”

    With gratitude,

  • Teaching Music With Technology

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

We are so grateful for your generous donations! We have been able to use our classroom iPad already to work on our note reading skills, rhythm skills, and compositions. My students are enjoying using the iPad during small groups, centers, and as a reward for classroom behavior.

For students who need some individual practice, the iPad has proven extremely helpful. It gives me the ability to provide extra content and practice for students who might need a little extra help in some areas.

With this iPad, I have been able to download new apps for my students to practice and create and that makes us all so happy! Watching students make their own compositions has been a highlight of adding this technology to our classroom. I am so happy to watch my students create and share their compositions that they are so proud of!

We thank you again for all you have done to contribute to music education in our school!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angel

  • Education Through Drumming

    Funded Oct 6, 2016

The drum that was provided through "Education Through Drumming" has reached so many students! We are able to use the drum provided through this project on a daily basis to work on our compositions skills, musical literacy, and promotion of an engaging and supportive environment for all students at our school.

Hands on education is extremely important, especially in the music room. Your generous gifts have helped give a more hands on experience to almost 600 Students!

We greatly appreciate your contribution to the Brookside music room, your investment in music education, and your support in creating a hands on learning environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Angel

This one drum is the first step in my classroom’s journey towards a class set of drums! I would like to build a set of at least twenty drums to provide all students with the opportunity to play as part of a drumming ensemble, but we need to start somewhere. Having a classroom set of drums will give my students the opportunity to experience music through hands-on experiences. Group drumming will improve their ability to focus and listen to others as well as their ability to work in large and small groups. As my students begin to become musicians through drumming, I know they will be challenged in ways that they have not been challenged before. This, in turn, will build in them greater perseverance, a sense of pride, and greater self-confidence. I can’t wait to see how they grow as musicians and people through drumming experience.
