  • MakerSpace: Robotics and Engineering

    Funded Mar 8, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous contribution! We greatly appreciate it!

This equipment will bring more STEM inquiry learning into our school setting!

The spring testing season made it a bit difficult to get much implementation done but big plans are in the works for the Fall!

You need not worry! We have the materials and I will work hard on getting everything ready for September! This is just the part of our ongoing process of setting up our Makerspace for a variety of activities and offerings!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

This classroom project was brought to life by Steven and Alexandra Cohen Foundation and 4 other donors.
  • MakerSpace! Textile Design and Creation!

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

Thank you so much for your support! Once the school year starts we will be able to begin our STEM & Design work that aligns with the materials!

It's been an interesting journey with our MakerSpace and we are hoping to continue growing its use and what activities and imagination it supports.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

This classroom project was brought to life by The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and 2 other donors.
  • Craft Materials for Making in Our MakerSpace!

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thanks for your gracious donation! We have been preparing the space for wide usage by our 4th and 5th-grade students and are close to the point that they may start designing their own apparel!

We've started with some small digital design work before moving on to the hands-on and final production! We are also working to make sure students can use the materials safely and properly. Starting small and slow is the key but this will be a years-long effort across several grades...

    Again, many thanks!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

This classroom project was brought to life by Panda Cares and one other donor.
  • MakerSpace Safety & Tool Expansion

    Funded Jun 1, 2022

Thank you for your kind donations! We are about to open our MakerSpace to our students and staff in the next few weeks now that we have the space and some of the safety materials in place.

As the weeks go on we will be training our students in design making and how that translates into the MakerSpace tools and materials.

Students will go through a 'badging' system to be 'certified users' of a particular tool. Amongst that will be safety badges for specific students who show exemplary skills with the tools under supervision.

It's a very exciting time! Thank you so much for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

  • Getting our MakerSpace off the Ground!

    Funded Mar 1, 2022

Thank you so much for your contribution to Getting our MakerSpace off the Ground! The year is getting underway and we are getting used to the equipment and testing some things out. The 3rd-5th grade kids have looked at some samples that were produced over the summer and they are so excited to see what they can come up with!

Next steps include getting the safety hood and vent set up, coding and design units completed, and getting the space organized for dual use (computer lab and MakerSpace).

We are on our way thanks to you!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

  • Calm Jars for Little People With Big Feelings

    Funded Mar 3, 2020

Thank you all so much for choosing to donate to this project! We are so thrilled to be able to do this with our smallest students! It is our hope that this project will be part of our initiative into mindfulness and overall well-being. We want to create students who are not happy and healthy physically but emotionally as well. Thanks again to you all!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Poole

Sensory bottles are often referred to as calm jars. When a sensory bottle has items such as glitter in it that move slowly, children are often mesmerized by watching their slow descent and this calms their breathing and helps them regulate themselves and their emotions. Although my students are kindergarteners, they often have BIG feelings that they don't know how to handle yet. Allowing each student to make a calm jar that will be readily available for them to use, as they see the need, will assist students in regulating their own emotions. My goal for this project is that the social emotional needs of all students are addressed, and a viable way for them to have autonomy over their emotions is in place grade wide.
