High Poverty, but also High Enthusiasm go hand in hand in this 4th grade class. 70 students make up my two 4th grade classes. They come in each day and begin their class period with Independent Reading. They read for pleasure and discuss the books they are reading with each other. The problem comes in when they want to take books home and there are not enough books to go around. Students need books on their personal reading levels to take home and read in class. This will be an extension of our class learning in the home setting.
