  • Project Clean Up

    Funded Nov 11, 2024

It is that time of the week. We are getting ready for the weekend and putting our classroom and learning environments in order. One of the most important "soft" skills that I continue to teach my students is that we are responsible for ourselves. They clean their desk areas each day using the broom and dustpan to clean up the pieces of cut paper after working with their sight/heart words. We collect all of the artwork, daily activity paper, and worksheets and place them in our mailing envelopes to take home and share with our loved ones. The sheet protectors and laminating sheets protect the impressive assignments that we post around the classroom for all to see. BUT, the best thing is our classroom vacuum. The kids love using the handheld vacuum to clean up our reading area. They sit on the rugs every day and sometimes all day and use the handheld vacuum to make their area neat and nice again. Thank you for your support of this project and for helping my students learn the responsibility of taking care of their learning environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Richardson

  • Kahoot! Goes Learning

    Funded Nov 27, 2024

My students love gamified learning. They are able to practice skills in a fun way that doesn't seem like learning, and they want to learn using online games. It is a great way to practice skills that each individual needs improvement with. Using Kahoot, has allowed all of my students to have instruction on their current educational level. They can also practice at home using the code links that I can send using our LMS. Learning is always happening in and out of school because of your support of this project. Thank You!”

  • It's Automatic!

    Funded Sep 23, 2024

Thank you! Having an additional device to use in small group rotation helps. We have several learning stations in the classroom, but it is hard to project different images, directions, and presentations from one device. Having the iPad has allowed the UFLI groups to see their lessons without the interruption of a timer from the other groups. During math, I'm able to have the iPad displaying learning aids for students who need a visual aid to complete independent work, and they can also play and watch a video to reinforce what they are learning.”

  • Cold Doesn't Bother Me Anymore, Sike!

    Funded Feb 25, 2025

This has been a winter season that my students have not experienced before. The extreme temperatures made it a challenge for most of my students and families to be present at school. My hope is that with the warm clothing items and the mobile heater, we will be able to get back to our daily routine of learning. Thank you so much - Continue to be safe and well!”

  • Extra, Extra, Need More

    Funded Sep 18, 2024

This year has been a new beginning for me at a new school. My students are working hard on soft skills every day and the materials funded through this project are helping. Some students need the nameplates on their desks to help with letter and number formation as we still write certain letters and numbers backward. Also, the nameplates also have math aids on them like a hundred chart to help with counting, adding, and subtracting. Thank you for the chair sacks, as they keep my students' materials at their fingertips, and we have saved transition time.”

  • Storage 4 All

    Funded Oct 14, 2024

As the colder weather has brought out the heavy coats, my students needed a place to store their warm clothes. These baskets are sturdy and have enough space for the thickest coat. Each person has a basket to place gloves, hat, scarf, and coat without mixing up with others. These baskets allow us to use the cubby spaces without looking messy. My students really appreciate your gift to them. The rolling cart is also a hit in the classroom as it stores our UFLI materials for lessons. Each day, someone gets to be the flight attendant as we start a new lesson. They push the cart around the room and pass out the sounding boards and other items. Thank you for helping with the order and routines of our classroom.”

  • We Are Monarchs!

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

OMG! This might be my favorite project ever. I hoped my students would love the door jambs, but it is much more. They could not stop looking at them and getting their friends to stop by our classroom door to tell them about each one. We have had perfect attendance each day since getting them. Every day we achieve perfect attendance a different student gets to place the door jamb up. The other day we were one student away from perfect attendance. When that student came through the day, the entire class cheered for that student and told him that he could hang the perfect attendance jamb. He was all smiles for the rest of the day. Thank you so much!”

  • Flex Our Muscles

    Funded Sep 24, 2024

Thank you for setting the mood inside of our classroom. Every classroom is different and making sure that the needs of the students who will call it home for a school year is important. Students want to feel accepted and welcome. the padded stools have allowed the students to move around the room without moving chairs from their desk. They came to the small group table and get started working immediately. The additional rug is located at the front of our room at the interactive whiteboard. My students have additional options to continue learning and that was made possible with your generous donation.”

  • From the Windows to the Floor

    Funded Aug 29, 2024

Making our classroom feel like a safe space is very important. Our classroom is that home away from home and my students come into this space and feel safe. It is a place where they feel comfortable being themselves. Our rugs and window coverings provide a safe shield that keeps the outside world. My students can try new things, read aloud, and problem-solve without feeling the anxiety that comes from others. I could not have made this happen without you. Starting over at a new school, I want to provide my students with a feeling of safety and comfort in a social-emotional way that enhances their academic learning.”

  • Hot Days, Cool Treats

    Funded May 16, 2024

The last part of the school year ends just like the beginning of the school year; showing what you know. Students spend a lot of time taking assessments to show what they have learned and mastered. During the hot days of summer, recess is the best part of the day, but humid days with high temperatures can cause distress. The cool treats made it possible for each student to enjoy the break and benefit from being outdoors. We really appreciated them to help cool day after our Water Day that celebrated all of the gains we made in literacy and reading this year.”

Everyone can learn! There are so many ways to show success in a classroom. In today's classroom, integration of technology, arts, and environment is used to balance mastery of skills and concepts. I would like to bring our classroom into the 21st century. As educators, we must provide a flexible, learning environment that will foster growth and inspire our children to reach beyond the stars and change the planet that we live on. We want them to be creative, productive, responsible citizens within this global society.
