  • Reading and Math Manipulatives for 1st!

    The students this year and coming years will benefit from your generosity. The students are able to practice spelling, writing and math in a variety of ways using the letters, dry erase boards and ready to go centers this grant provided. Using these hands on materials the students will better remember and recall the skills they are practicing.

  • Boards for Learning

    Thank you for the dry erase boards! The students were so excited to have brand new boards and markers. We use them almost every day to practice spelling, phonics, grammar and math. One activity that we do weekly is writing our spelling words. On Mondays we go over our list together and they use their boards to write the words as we talk about the phonetic rule we are focusing on that week. In math we use the boards for counting, addition, subtraction and so much more.

    Our next step is to get sets of magnetic letters and numbers for each student. The goal is for each student to have a set they can use during centers to practice spelling and math problems.”

I am requesting dry erase boards to help with literacy and math skills. Students will be using boards for whole group, small group, and center work. We do multiple activities in class to create engagement opportunities for all students in reading and math. Students use boards to show progress of understanding the skills and standards being taught. We do very simple activities such as basic math problems to sequencing events in reading, writing sentences to math word problems, alphabetizing to measurement and telling time. These and so many other skills are extremely vital in their learning. The boards ensure I can get every student involved at the same time and allow me to see their instant progress or struggle.
