  • Project 20/20 Computer Vision!

    Funded Mar 1, 2021

Thank you. Thank you for your willingness to support our students during a horribly dark time in public education. We are so thankful to have had access to a high quality computer monitor. We are able to work between the monitor and the SmartBoard which makes our instruction seamless. Unfortunately, most, if not all of the desktop computers and monitors available to us are at least a decade old. Imagine using a computer monitor from 2008! Thank you for helping us to upgrade what we have available to help us learn!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 9 other donors.
  • Project Chromebooks!

    Funded Sep 16, 2020

Thank you! This has been an amazingly difficult year for students. School should be a socializing endeavor where children learn with EACH OTHER and make sense of content in collaborative ways. Covid19 has divided us and isolated us at home which hinders how we learn.

Your commitment to supporting our students through funding these Chromebooks will help us get a great start back in just a few short weeks when we return to school in a hybrid format. Thank you!

Please consider supporting our future projects through Donors Choose. Stay safe and healthy. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

  • Project: Math Fluency!

    Funded Jan 23, 2019

Thank you! Thank you for caring enough to support our students with their new iPad! Students love using the iPad to support their learning needs.

Over the past few months we have been working on developing a math fluency app that will be used on the iPad. The app will allow students to learn, practice, test, and track their data all on the iPad.

We hope that we will return to school in the fall to continue learning and using the iPad you were so kind to provide for our students! Thank you for continuing to support our students!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and 5 other donors.
  • Project: 3D Printer!

    Funded Mar 28, 2019

Thank you for supporting our efforts with our 3D printer! We have been challenge to learn how to use this new resource which is what learning is all about!

So far we have only printed stock designs. We are working on how to scan original projects for the 3D printer and then connect that to the work we are doing in the classroom.

We are also learning about problem-solving strategies with our 3D printer. Somethings don't print correctly and we have to problem solve to make progress!

Thank you again for your support!”

  • Project: Graphing!

    Funded Dec 12, 2018

Thank you friends of Southwood! Thank you for being willing to support our students by helping to provide the graphing supplies. We use the graphing supplies to work as a whole class, in small groups, and also individually to accomplish specific learning goals. We are also using the graphing resources that you have provided to practice dividing fractions on number lines. 6th graders need to be able to model division with fractions on a number line. Thank you!

The new supplies have already begun to make a difference in the academic lives of our students! Please consider helping our students with future projects as well!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

  • Project: Leader in Me Literature

    Funded Sep 8, 2018

Each day in our classroom, when we return from recess and lunch, each person reads for approximately 20 minutes. The reading selection that students select is completely their decision. Students LOVE to read selections that help develop their character and offer a broader picture of who they are and who they can aspire to be. Thank you! Thank you for making a commitment to help meet our students' reading needs. Your gift to support this project has helped to provide reading materials for our students.

Please consider continuing to support our students through a variety of Donors Choose projects. Your support makes an important difference in our students' learning experiences! Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

  • Project: Math Fact Fluency!

    Funded Sep 22, 2018

Thank you! Project: Math Fact Fluency! enables our students to work in a flexible seating environment to practice developing their math skills. Technology only engages students in a positive way when it is purposeful. Our students have the opportunity to practice developing their math facts in ways that directly contribute to increased fluency skills.

Thank you for contributing to our classroom project and making a difference in the academic lives of our students! Please consider our other projects as we are always working to make relevant learning experiences available to our students. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

This classroom project was brought to life by Verizon and one other donor.
  • iPad Maintenance!

    Funded Apr 16, 2018

Wow! Thank you for your commitment to helping our students with their project! We are thankful to report that our new iPad is protected by the new iPad case. We are working hard to make sure that we take care of our new iPad. Thank you for providing our new case! Thank you also for the device charging station. Students are eager to charge their phones in the morning which allows them to focus on classwork rather than their devices. Finally, thank you for the screen cleaning supplies. You are helping us to steward our device by keeping it clean!

Thank you! Please consider supporting other projects in the future.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow

  • Project Math Fluency!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you! Thank you for helping our classroom to meet their technology goal by supporting us financially. Your support matters. Technology engages students. Engaged students learn. By helping to provide our classroom with an iPad our students have access to learning experiences that will meet their individual learning needs. Our classroom will utilize this iPad to serve a variety of learners in our classroom as they develop, reinforce, and extend their math skills.

Thank you again for your support and for making a difference in our students' lives!

  • Project: Please Save Our Printer!

    Funded Sep 4, 2018

Who asks for printer stuff for a Donors Choose grant? Sounds boring and unexciting. Well, we did, and you answered the call! Thank you!

Having a classroom printer (with associated printer cartridges) makes all the difference in the world to help meet our students' learning needs. Instead of only having printer access in another room with a black ink printer, we are able to print in color, in our own classroom to quickly meet the needs of everyone!

Thank you for making a difference in our students' academic lives!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Daberkow
