The students that I am working with are in grades six, seven and eight. Many of them have been without library services for nearly six months due to the current pandemic and state government order to close schools. The Scholastic News Magazines in Spanish will allow my students to develop literacy skills in their second language with a focus on the non-fiction genre. Being able to provide these weekly magazines in Spanish for my students would assist with my goal to create a rich-print experience even in a virtual setting. Having the magazined both virtually and hard copies would allow me to use these resources to continue to teach language arts skills in the targeted language, including annotation, sentence structure, reading comprehension and inference.
