• Children Love Cooking Ice Cream with Chemistry in the Classroom

  "Happy 25th Anniversary to my Donors Choose Community! I am SO looking forward to submitting a Thank You package after we've successfully made flavorful ice cream in the classroom. I'm as excited as my students are about this project because we've never had a chance to do it before. • We Want a World With Wellness!

  I created this project in September. The project was funded with your support and caring in December. We had to wait until January to receive these wonderful wellness Warmies. My impact statement is filled with student comments made after delivery.

  "Thank you! This was my dream."

  "I'm gonna name mine (Max, Emma, Milagro, Junior, Mi Reina.)"

  "Can I write my number on the tag so no one takes it by mistake?"

  "May I please get my sloth to help me with my test?"

  "She's facing the screen because she wants to learn."

  "He helps me make good choices."

  "She smells so good!"

  "Can I take him with me to the nurse? I want him to see my tooth get pulled out."

  "My brothers & sisters are in Guatemala. We are family now."

  I receive messages on the school's platform every weekend.

  "I'm so glad you bought them houses to stay warm."

  "I miss my (baby, sloth, friend, Warmie!)"

  "Do you lock the classroom doors when we're not there? I don't want him to get stolen."

  Students approach me with their Warmies' arms stretched out saying, "He wants to hug you."

  "They" decided that during Math & Reading instruction, it is not the time for Warmies.

  Each day is a heartfelt reminder of how much these wellness Warmies work to help my students with self care.

  I'm submitting this Thank You package with much appreciation. The endless love and comments will continue year after year, and will last forever.

  During a secure lockdown last week. They grabbed their Warmies to help with their anxiety. THANK YOU for giving us all a World With Wellness!”

• Make Magic with Mountain Math on a Magnetic Board

  This gift is such a big part of our daily lessons. Mountain Math is built into our year-round curriculum framework. My 2nd Graders use it every day to improve their computation skills and train their brains for Math games. We could not use these materials without this magnetic flip board to hold these 16 concept driven spiral Math review activities, designed to help all my students succeed. Thank you for your faith and trust in the projects you generously fund. I cannot provide these invaluable resources without your help and support.”

• Please Print Our Color Pictures (Part 2)

  Part 1 was my original project for a classroom color printer funded in January 2024.

  Part 2 was a project for printer toner funded in April 2024, and today I am here to thank you!

  Since school resumed in July 2024, I've been busy with printing projects for my class, myself, my fellow teachers, and my school. Your wonderful and timely donation helped keep my printer stocked with toner, which is very pricey.

  I was able to print my certificates for Professional Development training, student photos, school posters for students, a Fall Festival Flyer for the school, a teacher's color schedule, color printouts for bulletin boards and my school schedules... And, the school year has only just begun! Thank you for funding this project, and for helping me Print My Color Pictures.”

• Stock Up on Student School Supplies

  Your support to this project was the only way my class was able to start the year off with their necessary supplies. At my Title 1 Equity Focus school, I cannot ask families to purchase the essential materials the District doesn't provide. I normally purchase what's needed if I want my students to be success. Thank you for making a way for me to fund this annual project. My students feel special with their personalized binder, spiral notebook, folders, pencils, zipper case, and paint set. They use their educational placements for breakfast in the classroom each day. I used the paste and spray adhesive to mount decor on bulletin boards that display our classroom theme. The magnets hold up the decor on the ceiling. Having what they need motivates them to come to school each day. Thank you SO much!!!”

• Please Print Our Color Pictures

  Funded Jan 18, 2024

  Have you ever seen the look on a child's face when they see their own work on display? My 2nd Graders are now experts at creatively externalizing their thinking. Their faces light up every time they "Print Pictures" and projects with their Chromebook-compatible color printer. Integration of educational technologies in K-12 classrooms has reached 89%. We use Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, Apple Watches, and iPhones all day long. My students made digital Igloos through their communication platform. They printed their own Geometry vocabulary cards, and made Research Reports with color photos. They made their own Costume Props for a Science Water Cycle performance. All over the school we can see their Yearbook Sale posters. They designed their own Career Day document for our bulletin board. Students have direct access to our laser printer through a Shared Drive, and can print on demand. No interruptions, no interdependency, no time wasted, and no inconvenience. This wonderful gift benefits our class every day. Thank you for supporting our creative genius and enthusiasm.”

• Can't Wait to See Our 1st Solar Eclipse!

  Today was THE day! Please accept my sincere appreciation for making it all possible. Today my student Valerie said, "This is the best day ever!" And, Matthew said, "This is so cool!" I chimed in, "This is historic... The next Solar Eclipse will be in 20 years! I'm so happy we did this together." Students shouted, "Thank you! I'm coming back to see you in 20 years, and bringing my glasses so we can do it again!"

  On our school's communication platform, one parent's message read, "Thank you Dr. Ramos, for taking care of our children and allowing them to witness this astronomical phenomenon." Another was so happy to see the photos we captured. Students loved it! They had the ISO glasses, and could properly enjoy this magical experience—thanks to you.

  Some of the skills and lessons introduced by all of these new books prepared us so well for this event. The exciting Solar Eclipse content is a refreshing change for me, as well. The students and I learned about totality together. We were outside the path of totality, but still saw a 60% partial solar eclipse, where the moon appears to take a crescent-shaped "bite" out of the sun. My class will not forget this wonderful experience and learning opportunity. Thank you for funding this project, and donating to my 2nd-Grade scholars.”

• Seeking Student Stem Supplies & Solutions

  Your support and funding of this project had a profound impact on my 2nd Grade students— who had no prior knowledge on how to program a robot.

  The look on their faces says it all! Integrating a Wonder Workshop into our classroom helped students navigate real-world learning experiences through inquiry-based practices. It inspired students to explore their creativity. Students used compatible apps, and block to text-based programming codes on robotic machines. Now the two Dash Robot Wonder Packs provide my students hours of FUN, and comprehensive STEM education. They programmed the two robots to speak with and respond to students, move, converse with other robots, grip items, and draw! Now all we need is more hours in the day because students can't get enough of it.”
