Pulling Strings in Middle School Orchestra! Part I

Thank you so much for donating to my project, Pulling Strings in Middle School Part I. With the materials that my student received, shoulder rests, rosin, and on-level strings music the students are able to improve on their string playing techniques. The students were able to prepare for string orchestra auditions, and also perform in our winter music program. We thank the Yamaha Corporation of America, numerous music teachers throughout the nation, and the people at Music makes our Students smarter! Thank you again for supporting our string ensemble at Key Biscayne K-8 Center!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Yamaha Corporation of America and 10 other donors.

My students come into my class eager to play instruments; however, I do not have enough instruments or music materials for all of the students, as some of the classes are doubled up. It is my wish to provide my students with hands-on experiences that would introduce them to strings and percussion, as well as pitched-percussion instruments to compliment existing class instruments. The goal of this music project is to encourage students to become active participants of a music instrumental ensemble. Playing Ukulele string instruments and drums would prepare my elementary grade students for more complex music ensembles in the upcoming years. Ukulele and drums, would provide my students with necessary skills in chord progression and rhythm in order to build a foundation for future years, and create a fun music environment for students with diverse needs.
