Movement for Self-regulation
Funded Aug 23, 2024I cannot express how thankful I am for your generosity. My students are going to be so excited. They love doing art. Thanks again I can't wait for the resource to arrive. I enjoy the look on my students' faces when I show them new equipment. My students do not have much. So when I am able to introduce them to something new I love it. They are great kids who just need a break. With all the problems in there lives I like to feel like I'm there for them always whether it is in life, school, or sports.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Donna
This classroom project was brought to life by and one other donor.Drawing Their Feelings
Funded Dec 22, 2023What a nice surprise to open my email and see that my project has been funded! It seems so simple to give teens markers and they’ll process their feelings/trauma, but it really works! When I discovered Posca markers about five years ago, I enjoyed them so much myself that I decided to try them with students. They have been the favorite item in my office ever since. I’m very excited for them. Thank you so much!”

Dealing With Feelings Through Art
Funded Aug 18, 2022My heart is full! Thank you so much for donating to my project which, due to your generosity, has been completely funded. My students will love having new Posca markers to use. They’re always the favorite medium user in my office.
Please know that your gift will very directly help students going through hard emotional times. I can’t thank you enough!”

Mill Closed, Budget Slashed
Funded Oct 12, 2015Thank you so very much for your generous gift of a sand table. As you know from my profile, our local mill shut down last year and our school district's budget was cut drastically. Our elementary guidance counselor's position was eliminated so our young children are going without guidance lessons and even more responsibilities have fallen on the shoulders of our teachers.
I work as a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC for short) and typically do administrative work for the special education department, and social skills groups with middle and high school students. I used to work as an elementary school counselor and understand the valuable services they provide, so I asked our administrative team if I could at least work with our neediest kindergarten students, as my office is located a school with only kindergarteners. I'm allowed to do so but was not given any budget for materials. I've had advanced training in play therapy and know the most important item in counseling young children is a sand table. There are many studies that show the benefits of play therapy in young children. They are able to express themselves using play as their language and toys as their words. By using the sand table, they can recreate their world and process feelings and any trauma that may have occurred.
The children squealed with delight when they saw the sand table for the first time! You'll notice the sand is orange. It's a special, dust free sand called "Jurassic Sand." It has a very fine texture and the kids love the color. It is the most used item in my office.
Your kindness and generosity mean so much to my students and me. In this day and age where we're bombarded with so much negativity through the media and major economic struggles, you've reminded me that there are still caring people in the world. Again, thank you so much!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Donna
