Support our Aspiring STEM Club
Funded Jul 16, 2015Thank you so much for your donations to our STEM club. Our weekly club meetings have been greatly enhanced this year because of your generosity. The students returned this year excited to hear about the new robots, circuit parts, and building materials, and have kept coming back each week to continue their projects.
As you can see in the pictures, these new supplies are building engineering skills and collaboration skills. Last week in STEM club, students were working together to program their robot to navigate the school hallways. They figured out how to measure the length of the hallways and compare that with the circumference of the tires in order to set the number of rotations they would need for each step. Next the students will be programming their robots to complete obstacle courses! Tackling these genuine engineering problems is very enriching for the students and I thank you for helping me provide them with this opportunity.”

Chemistry Needs Chemicals!
Funded Dec 12, 2014Thank you very much for your generous donation to our classroom. The chemicals that you helped us purchase were a wonderful addition to our supply and enabled us to engage in many more lab experiences throughout our Chemistry Unit. Since chemicals are consumable, we rely on donations from wonderful people such as yourself to continue the hands-on experiences year after year.
With plenty of chemicals to go around, students were able practice the classic chemistry labs, then use the materials to design their own follow up labs. This gave students practice writing lab questions, designing their own procedures, and collecting data. With your help, I was able to have the supplies to allow students to practice actual science rather than just watching demonstrations.
Thanks again for your thoughtful donation to my students.”

Curious Scientists Crave Self-Paced Learning
Funded Oct 15, 2014Thank you very much for your generous donations to our classroom. The students have enjoyed the new materials very much throughout this year. Much of the work in our classroom is self-paced, and students work in self selected groups to move through the material. Having a class supply of headphones means that students can watch and review videos and animations with sound whenever they need to without having to worry about disturbing others. In addition, having color coded bins for lab supplies enables students to gather materials easily when they are ready for a lab or exploration.
Your donations have helped to decrease distraction and increase time spent learning in our classroom. Thank you again for helping our dream of a self-paced learning environment become a reality.”

Funded Oct 11, 2014Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The students had a great time working on the strawberry DNA extraction project, as you can see in the pictures. In addition to being able to see the DNA for themselves, students were also able to practice their lab skills. Students were asked to design unique experiments, write procedures, and then carry out the tests in small groups. This collaborative work builds real life science skills for the students.
In addition to providing this experience for the students this year, your donations helped to provide enough resources to allow students in future years to also enjoy this learning experience. Thank you for your generosity in donating to our classroom!”

Funded Sep 25, 2014Thank you very much for your generous donations to our classroom. You helped to provide us with basic circuit parts, such as alligator clip wires, batteries, and lights, as well as fun and engaging extensions, such as solar panels. No longer will students have to dig through boxes of old batteries to find the one or two that work. Our time will instead be spent actively engaged in the exploration process.
With the variety of resources, students will be able to apply what they learn about circuits in hands on lab experiments. The students will also be able to extend their knowledge as they design their own experiments to test questions about the different variables impacting the circuit. Your donation helps to make these opportunities for critical thinking and collaboration possible in our classroom.”

Engage Curious Scientists with Games and Activities!
Funded Aug 23, 2014Thank you very much for your donations to our classroom. Your donation helped my students in several very important ways.
First, you helped us get educational games to support our learning in Chemistry, Rocks and Minerals, and Electricity. These games help us to introduce, reinforce, and review content in our units. You also helped provide resources for educational puzzles and skill builders that can be built into our daily lessons. This helps to make class time more enjoyable. It also builds critical thinking and problem solving skills, while promoting collaboration between the students.
We have used many of the resources already, and students are looking forward to using the Snap Circuits in our upcoming unit. Thank you so much for bringing these tools into our classroom.”

Funded Jun 23, 2014Thank you so much for the donation of Chromebooks for our classroom. Your donation helped us get closer to our goal of having one computer for every student to use during class.
You have helped students access a wider variety of resources both during class and after school. You have also helped the students begin to learn typing, online organization, and computer programming, all skills that will help them throughout their entire academic careers.
The students use this technology almost every day. You have made a significant impact on these students and their education.”

Funded Sep 1, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. Your donations have added a number of new science kits to our collection. This enables students to engage in fun, educational, and hands on activities when they finish their work early. Many students have been working with the kits to support their science fair projects as well. Students are also eager to stay after school to work with the science experiments for fun. Overall, it has been a very enriching experience for our classroom.
As soon as the kits arrived, the students were eager to see what was in the new boxes. They love hands on experiences and knew that something good must be coming to enhance the lab experiences. The students eagerly eyed the kits on display in the classroom, and some even formed ideas for projects based on the kits they saw.
Thank you for your donation, which has helped to inspire my students to love science.”

Chemistry Kits for Inquiry Learning
Funded Dec 21, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation to our Science classroom. The project could not have been funded at a more perfect time, as we are just beginning our Chemistry unit. The students were very excited to see the large boxes delivered, because they knew that boxes meant more supplies for them to use within labs. The students are eager to begin using them, and I am excited to post pictures of our labs next week!
By helping fund our Chemistry kits, you bought my students a wide variety of chemicals to use in different labs. The students will be able compare the properties of different elements and see how those properties change when the elements react. They will also be able to see oscillating chemical reactions, rocket launches, and many of the other fun sides of chemistry.
Thank you so much for providing this learning opportunity for my students.”

Curious Science Students Need Engaging Materials
Funded Sep 14, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. My students are always excited to see new boxes arrive, because they know it means that class will be more fun and more engaging. With your donation, you helped provide engaging supplies that can be used over and over.
With the scissors and colored pencils, we are able to incorporate more art activities in to the classroom. We are also able to take color coded notes and include detailed and organized diagrams and graphs within our labs. This has already been an asset within our room.
In addition, the white boards you provided allow the students to all participate by writing answers and showing them to the class. This also allows me to quickly assess who understands and who does not, allowing me to be a better teacher.
Lastly, the clipboards you helped buy for us have allowed us to take our classroom outside, keeping our note sheets on the clipboard so we can easily write.
Thank you for making such a significant change in our classroom.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Dobler
