  • Incentivize Our Classroom

    Funded Dec 4, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity in supporting my project. These items have been so well received by my students and every day they appreciate them! My students are intrinsically motivated to do well in math, but having these little incentives really make the learning fun and motivate even the students that don't alway feel successful in the classroom. Students love getting a little prize on a random day or for being recognized for their exceptional work during class. Many more students are now staying after class for extra help and are volunteering to help their teammates do better.

Thank you again for your support of my classroom and for supporting public education. Teaching is a difficult job, but it becomes a little bit easier with the support from people like you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nieder

  • Help My Students Stay on the "Write" Track in Math!

    Funded Jul 24, 2022

Thank you so much for your generosity. These supplies are being used every day in class and helps me help my students. The classroom pencil sharpener replaced a broken machine and it is so nice to not have to worry about pencils being sharpened. The dry erase markers allow my students to write on their dry erase desks and they love being able to do so. In addition, the handheld pencil sharpeners are really great! Students no longer need to wait for a new pencil if they are within reach of the mini sharpener. Teaching is a difficult job, but it is made a little bit easier because of donors like you. Thanks again!”

  • Without Ink, our Printer will Stink

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

You're donation for ink for the classroom printer has been so helpful and is being used every day! With ink in the printer, I have been able to print out certificates for students who do exceptional work. Students now receive color certificates for passing a certain number of lessons on I-Ready, for being teammate of the week, and for turning in amazing homework. Students in my small groups love that their worksheets are sometimes in color and the bulletin board outside of the classroom is decorated with colorful math pictures. The color printer now helps to motivate my students and they are even more excited about learning! Thank you for your generosity!”

  • A Clean and Organized Classroom Needed Please!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

We are now in the 2nd week of November and my classroom remains clean! Thanks to your donations, my students are able to come into their classroom every morning their desks are wiped clean and the floors are swept. Students have also been really helpful to ensure the room stays clean throughout the day. A clean and organized classroom is important, and when students feel that their classroom is special, they will be more invested to work hard. Thank you so much for helping to support my classroom and public education. Teaching is a hard job, but because of donors like you, the job gets a little bit easier!”

  • Pencils Please!

    Funded Mar 28, 2022

Thank you so much for the donated pencils! So far, many of the pencils have already been used by students and their great work! It is really nice to not have to worry about students missing pencils and instead I can focus on the work and the lessons. Every day my students are working really hard to learn the math work and they are now able to get more work done without wasting time to look for a pencil or to sharpened a dull pencil. My students are maximizing their time in the classroom which allows me to teach more math and give more problems for students to practice. Thanks again for your generosity!”

    Mr. Nieder

  • My students need to hear their teacher and each other.

    Funded Sep 20, 2021

Thank you so much for your generosity in providing my class and students with this PA system. I've been wearing a mask in the classroom all year and will continue to do so. Before having this PA system, the students would be able to hear me or each other well and my voice would hurt at the end of every day. Now, every word can be heard by the students and I am able to teach to the best of my ability every day. I wish this PA system wasn't necessary, and hopefully one day it won't be, but my students have been able to continue to work to the best of their ability and they love coming to class every day because they can learn with as few obstacles as possible.

Thanks again for supporting public education, my school, and my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nieder

  • Help Bring Joy to My Students!

    Funded Aug 13, 2021

Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom and to the students it serves. This year has been challenging in so many ways, but receiving these supplies from you has helped make the year a little easier for me and happier for the students. The toys were great incentives for my students' hard work and the magic wands helped bring the classroom theme, "Math and Magic" to life! When each student walks into class and receives a birthday gift bag, they are so happy that their special day is being recognized and that they receive something because of it.

    Thanks again for your kindness!”

  • Help Make Online Learning Fun!

    Funded Dec 1, 2020

First, I am so sorry for the delay in expressing gratitude for your extremely generous contribution to my students and their learning. Online learning has been very challenging, and emails/reminders from Donors Choose have gotten buried in the plethora of emails that I receive daily. It is no excuse, but it is definitely not a reflection of how lucky I am to have such amazing people who care about public education.

The gift cards to Teachers Pay Teachers have been extremely useful on a daily basis. Despite being in my 21st year of teaching at KIPP, this year has brought amazing new challenges and has required me to rethink my teaching and how to better reach the students in a remote setting. The gift card has allowed me to use amazing material that other teachers across the country have created, which has prevented me from reinventing and wheel and has saved me time that is now used in other ways to help my students.

Thank you again for your continued support. Have a great summer! (I can't wait) :)”

  • Without Ink, Our Class Will Sink!

    Funded Dec 11, 2019

At KIPP Academy, we live by a credo and one important part of that credo is "when there is a problem, we look for a good solution". Thanks to your generosity, we found a good solution. Even though we live in a time of ever-advancing technology, there is no substitute for some old-fashioned pencils and paper. In my classroom, we use paper for more than just worksheets and homework. Here are some of the ways in which your donation directly contributed to student learning:

    - We were able to print answer keys to classwork. We then cut the papers into individual questions and spread them around the room. This allows students to check their own work while also getting a chance to move around a little!

    - We were able to print answer keys to homework. This allows students to trade homework with a classmate and grade each other's work.

    - We were able to print challenge questions on colorful cardstock. Doing so provided motivation for students to push themselves out of their comfort zone.

    - Just before school closed because of the Coronavirus, we were unsure of what remote learning would look like. In order to provide students with meaningful work to keep their skills sharpened, we were able to print packets for all subject areas. This bought us some time as we developed a plan for remote learning.

    - Rather than waiting in line for the school copier, I was able to print differentiated classwork and homework for students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Students with IEPs really benefited from receiving work that is tailored to their unique skill level.

So many elements go into helping students achieve their goals. The path to success is rarely an easy one, but with your help, we were able to smoothen that path. Thank you so much for taking out time and resources to contribute to our students' success.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Nieder

I teach 6th grade math in an inner-city charter middle school in a high-need area. Over 90% of our students qualify for free lunch according to their household incomes. My students attend school from 7:25 am-4:30 pm Monday-Friday, on Saturdays, and for 3 weeks in July. They work extremely hard every day and the results show; 100% of my students passed the 2011 NYS Math Test! Teaching is never easy, but having the right supplies makes learning fun and allows my students to achieve their goals.
