  • Build up Some STEAM

    Funded Oct 9, 2019

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you once again for such an amazing donation. As you can see from the pictures, the kids worked very hard to put the computer together. They were very careful and meticulous with all the little pieces. They were even considerate of others and made sure each got a chance to do something. We had to take the memory in and out a couple times just so everyone had a chance, but it was good because they all had a part in building this computer.

It was amazing to see their faces light up when it was turned on for the first time! They really felt accomplished because they could say "I did that!" I even had a mom come to me and say she was so grateful that her son learned such a useful skill. It is because of your generous donation that we were able to do that and I truly thank you. Now we use the computer everyday and I know if anything needs to be fixed, they can do it.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

  • Full STEAM Ahead!

    Funded Oct 17, 2018

Thank you, Gracias, Merci Beaucoup and Grazie! There are plenty of other ways to say it but we want to say thank you Chevron and Donors choose for making a difference in our class. I know a desktop computer and a classroom set of sharpeners may not seem very important but what a difference it has made. We use both the sharpener and computer daily. Our teacher (Mr. Mejia) uses the hard drive to save all of our projects and pictures. As you can see from the pictures, we have completed our entire class science fair project. We even made the graph on the Mac Mini. But we couldn't have done any of it without sharpened pencils. So once again, from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

  • 3D Printing the World

    Funded Oct 2, 2017

Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for our new Laser Printer, 3-D printer and all the extra colors of filament. We have not stopped using it since the day we got it. We use it for Math, Science and Social Studies notes. I print math notes for the students to glue into their notebooks. We have printed 3-D elephants to see how it is built from the bottom up and to show the inside and how it prints the support it needs. Next we will be printing the Phases of the Moon for Science. We use it almost everyday.

That is from the students who you have impacted Chevron, with this generous donation. From me, let me start by saying a simple thank you. As everyone knows, schools have a hard time keeping up with technology. We, as teachers, try our best to keep up using money from our own pockets, but it is a difficult task. I have been able to use the Charging Station to charge my classroom iPads so the students can continue to use them. The other 2 items, the headset and the keyboard, are helping me to make the most of notes on the Promethean projector. Thanks to Chevron and donors like you, we have a wonderful way to supplement what we can do. So, from the bottom of my heart I say thank you, Chevron & Donors for making a difference in so many students lives.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

  • Keeping Up with the Changing World

    Funded Oct 24, 2016

Words cannot begin to express how grateful we are for our new iPad. We have not stopped using it since the day we got it. We use it for Math, Science and Social Stidies notes. We used it to watch videos about the Everglades before we went on a field trip. We use it to prepare for testing by taking practice tests and practicing our typing. We use it for math games to improve our multiplication and division. We use it everyday and almost all day.

  • Expanding Technology Into a Large Classroom

    Funded Oct 6, 2015

My class and I would like to take this time to send you a very warm welcome. What an amazing difference these laptops have made in my class this year. I always had 3 students who wouldn't be able to get on a computer because I have such a large group of students this year. With your funding, now they are all able to use the technology and use programs to expand on what we are learning in class. It's amazing to see their eyes light up when they know they get to use the new laptops. They have been able to work on research projects, PowerPoint Presentations and even phonics skills. This would not have been possible without Chevron's help. And it is with my sincerest gratitude that my class and I thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

  • A Whole New World (of Technology)

    Funded Oct 14, 2014

We are writing to express our deepest thanks for your recent donation of an Apple MacBook Air. Your generous gift has enabled our class to reach for the stars and made a huge difference in the way our Promethean board works.

Your support has played a key role in our success in preparing the students for the new state assessment this year. Without the laptop we would never have been able to get as far as we have.

There is no way to fully express our gratitude for your donation. But from the bottom of all of our hearts we thank you.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

  • Entering the 21st Century

    Funded May 6, 2014

Thank you so much for your wonderful donations in support of our classroom technology. It is amazing to see the students' faces light up when they get to use the iPad. They have been able to use the iPad to access the supplemental material found online that correlates with our reading and math textbooks. They have also taken a higher interest in subjects like geography, astronomy and biology via some apps that I have procured for them. I was even able to show a Bill Nye Video to a student that was absent the day when the whole class viewed it. He sat at his desk with the iPad and headphones watching the video and completing the accompanying assignment. This is something that I could NEVER do prior to having this iPad in the classroom. Once again, thank you so much for your generosity. It is truly making quite a difference in my students' daily learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Mejia

I have the only self-contained 4th grade class in my school. That means I have students with disabilities and students whose first language is not English combined with general education students. With so many different ability levels, there are many different styles of teaching going on within each lesson. I would love to add a technology aspect within each lesson but with funding so limited and the majority of my students being economically disadvantaged, I need help to procure the equipment.
