  • Seat Sacks For Students

    Funded Feb 9, 2022

Thank you for donating to my project, seat sacks for students!! You will not believe how much these seat sacks have helped my students. They are more organized, more independent, and more responsible because of them! The seat sacks helped take all their workbooks and notebooks that were scattered in their desks and put them in a nice neat pile behind their chair, in the seat sack. When it was time to use a workbook or notebook, students weren't digging through their desk looking for them. I can't thank you enough for helping my students and I!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Maggio

  • Support The Abilities, Recognize The Possibilities

    Funded Sep 22, 2021

Thank you so much for donating to my project. I can not begin to explain how much it has helped each and every one of my students! As you know, every child is different. The variety of things I have received may not helped one child, but then definitely helped another!

My students use the variety of materials to help them focus and learn. The materials provide and environment that provide every student the opportunity to succeed. Some students need to rock in their chairs- go get a wobble cushion! Some students need to move their funds- here is a popper! Some students need to bounce there legs- go ahead and use those bouncy bands! EVERY SINGLE STUDENT has SOMETHING to help them and it is all thanks to you and your generosity!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for being so kind.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Maggio

  • Teaching Through Technology

    Funded Mar 30, 2021

Thank you so much for contributing to my project!

The laptop was a life savior for me in this virtual setting. It really helped me interact more efficiently with all my students and co-teachers. I was able to see all my students, present without freezing, and interact "in real time." We were able to switch through programs, brain breaks, and videos with ease! Often times, my old computer would kick me off the meets when trying to present a video. This no longer happened with the laptop! My students actually said, you haven't been kicked out of class Mrs. Maggio!

My students love the document camera. In Kindergarten, modeling how to write is SO important! Before, I would try my best to model how to write on our online platforms, but it just was not the same. I was able to show students how to write upper and lowercase letters directly on the same paper they were using at home! Students also loved that I could present a book and we were able to read it together using the document camera. Finally, we were also able to use the document camera to see our live insects that were in the classroom up close virtually!

Once it was time to return to school, I was able to be in the classroom with 6 of my students while the rest were online. The paper and hand sanitizer greatly helped me ensure students had copies of their materials and clean hands!

Thank you so much for your help in funding my project. I truly can't thank you enough. You have truly helped me be a better teacher for my Kindergarten students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Maggio

Teaching virtually has come with a lot of changes and challenges for both teachers and students. How can a teacher be effective using technology if the technology she uses is not up to date? I currently am not able to stay in google meets, share presentations, or even see my students without having to sign out and back in at least once or twice a day. I would use the laptop as my computer to teach my students virtually. This laptop will help my students watch videos without freezing or lagging while sharing my screen. I will be able to present and use virtual resources with confidence that my students will be able to see and participate in during the live lesson. Kindergarten students rely heavily on visuals. The document camera will allow me to model work in real time and review independent work with the students. We are returning to a hybrid schedule in April. I plan to bring this portable document camera back and forth so I can use it when teaching from home, and teaching in the classroom. Document cameras give students the ability to see an object or text clearly from anywhere in the classroom (in person or virtually), which is important for comprehension and understanding. Finally, Kindergarten students have a hard time using some internet programs. We make many copies and packets, that require a lot of paper, that students pick up. This allows students to practice holding pencils, markers, and crayons to write, draw or color. They are also able to interact with cut and paste activities. I can not stress the importance of using worksheets in this virtual setting. Kindergarteners need to have the ability to practice their fine motor skills. This means they NEED paper worksheets.
