  • We Love Books!

    Funded Jan 2, 2013

On behalf of my second graders, thank you again for your generous donation of chapter books to our class. These books were put to good use immediately.

I wish you could have seen the looks of joy and excitement on my students' faces when they opened up the box of brand-new books. They couldn't wait to get their hands on them! They were even more excited when I told them that they were going to receive their very own copy of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl. Since receiving this book, they have read it over and over again. The remaining chapter books were added to our library and they have increased my students' love for reading. Whenever my students go to our classroom library, they're always making comments such as, "Where's Matilda? I haven't read it yet!", "Look! I got The Twits!", or "Wow! It's Ivy and Bean!" They love reading these new chapter books. They are definitely the most coveted items in our classroom library!

Your help has ensured that my second grade students will receive a high-quality education throughout the year, one that is full of excellent literature both in school and at home. Thank you again for providing my students with these chapter books.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

  • A Cozy Reading Corner

    Funded Oct 18, 2012

On behalf of my second graders, thank you for your donation to our class. The beanbag seats, soft seats, and new books were immediately used to create a comfortable reading area in our classroom.

My students couldn't wait to get their hands on the new books! They love new books - especially since so many of our classroom books are old and falling apart. My students have been enjoying reading these new books.

The beanbag seats and soft seats were a hit too! Every day my students read independently or with a partner for a minimum of 20 minutes. They have always enjoyed reading, but they are more excited than ever to read now that they have a comfortable place to do it. Students who used to have difficulty staying focused during reading are able to focus for longer periods of time in our new reading corner.

I am so grateful for your generosity and support. Reading is so important and these materials have helped me to create an area in the classroom that encourages my students to read. Your gift not only benefits my students this year, but will benefit students for many years to come! We wish you all the best!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry

  • Can You Sharpen Our Pencils?

    Funded Sep 9, 2012

Thank you for your generous contribution to my classroom and students. Your support has made it possible for my students to receive the pencil sharpener that they so desperately needed.

It has been wonderful to have a reliable pencil sharpener in our classroom. No longer are students distracted from their learning because they cannot find a sharp pencil. Now, students can quickly and easily sharpen their pencils and get right back to work.

Thank you for again for your gift to my classroom and students. Your help has ensured that students for years to come will always have sharp pencils to write with. We wish you all the best!”

    With gratitude,

  • Write On! Wipe Off!

    Funded Aug 22, 2012

Thank you again for your generous contribution to my classroom and students. Your support has made it possible for my students and I to receive the white board and storage bins that we so desperately needed.

My students and I started using the teaching easel and storage bins as soon as they arrived. I use the easel many times each day to teach my students new math concepts, model writing, demonstrate reading strategies, and much more. My students love coming to the board to solve problems, write answers to questions, and model concepts for their peers. The storage bins are wonderful for storing lesson materials.

Having the teaching easel in our classroom has been amazing. The dry erase slate that we used to use was a huge distraction because it regularly fell apart and it was too small for all students to see. The new teaching easel is sturdy and large enough for every student to see. This has resulted in fewer distractions, which means that more time is spent on learning.

I am grateful for your generosity and support. Your help has ensured that my students receive a high-quality education that has minimal distractions. Thank you again for providing my class with this teaching easel. My current group of second graders' quality of education (not to mention many future groups!) has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. We wish you all the best!”

  • Art Supplies for My Second Grade Class

    Funded Sep 19, 2012

On behalf of my second graders, thank you again for your donation of crayons and construction paper to our class. You should have seen the looks on my students' faces when we received the boxes of supplies and I started taking out all of the different colored paper and not one, but two big boxes of crayons! They couldn't wait to get their hands on the supplies and start creating works of art with it.

My students do not have art class and many of them do not even have crayons at home, so having access to crayons and construction paper in their classroom is essential. Since receiving these items, my students have used the crayons almost every day to illustrate their writing, create math projects, or to show what they're learning in science and social studies. They have used the construction paper for creating collages, painting pictures, making books, and much more. My students love using these supplies to express themselves creatively.

I am so grateful for your support and generosity. Your help has ensured that my students receive a high-quality education, one that is full of crayons and construction paper. Thank you again for providing my class with these resources. My current group of second graders' quality of education (not to mention many future groups!) has undoubtedly been improved by your kindness. We wish you all the best!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Kerry
