  • Eureka! It's Math Time!

    Funded Aug 11, 2018

We received our math grid rug and supplies on the first day of school! The students were so excited to unroll the rug and decide which way it should be positioned in the classroom. The students immediately started conversing on which "big numbers" they knew! It was thrilling to see them take ownership! The Ticonderoga pencils were a big hit too as one student said..."ohhhh we got the good pencils!"

Thanks to all who donated! You have made our first day of first grade memorable!! We are one happy first grade bunch!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

This classroom project was brought to life by ImpactTulsa and 8 other donors.
  • Let's Wobble in Mrs. D's Class!

    Funded Jun 1, 2017

We appreciate your donations that enable us to promote a flexible seating classroom! Your generosity gave us a fun, learning atmosphere that promotes "ownership", creativity, and a safe comfortable place to learn!

We have also noticed classroom disruptions have reduced and has give us a freedom to move and listen at the same time! It is a happy environment that supports ALL aspects of social emotional health, academic levels, and promotes self confidence because of the daily choices of where we can learn best!

We thank you so very much!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

  • Let's Create and Invent!

    Funded Oct 7, 2015

My first grade students at Kendall Whittier Elementary are using our K'Nex building manipulatives to create ideas for writing, math problems and creating social experiences by work "together". They look forward to our "creative corner" every day!

The girls and boys were very excited to get "big" boxes mailed to them! We sat in a circle and opened each one, reading the directions and talking about what they were going to make! It was like Christmas!

Our next steps are to start a K'Nex project that will be a continued "building process" over several days. We will display for other classrooms to see, as well as write about it daily in our journals.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. DiLonardo

Engaging students in the writing process can be arduous. I am creating a "wild about writing" classroom using animals that students love to learn about. A classroom rug depicting animals around the world would enhance a positive learning and comfortable environment. Many of my students come from poverty stricken homes. Providing an inviting "student interest owned" classroom can enable student curiosity and desire to learn!
