Help me give my K-8 students access to technology in the Media Center using iPads, headphones, and flexible seating with the addition of wobble cushions, comfy floor seats, and beanbag chairs to encourage the love of reading. Many of my students suffer from homelessness and are quite transient throughout the school year. This makes learning a struggle for them on a day-to-day basis. My students need tools that help promote their learning as emergent readers. This year, we are building a stronger reading foundation and having iPads available in the library will help encourage students to use iReady apps and Accelerated Reader to improve reading skills. The iPads will help to encourage students to use reading apps like iReady and Accelerated Reader. Providing students access to flexible seating is equally as important. The wobble cushions, comfy floor seats, and bean bag chairs will especially help some of my students who struggle with conditions that cause constant movement. They will be better able to complete independent work and writing tasks at their seat while still having the ability to wiggle, fidget, rock as well as move around. The flexible seating will help to diminish impulsive behaviors as they are able to focus and move while learning. I want to provide the best possible learning environment in my library so that student want to read and can hope for a better future.
