I am the director of Speech & Debate at Achievement First Brooklyn High School in Crown Heights, New York. Our team has over 20 members who regularly compete both locally and regionally. Our kids work really hard and do really well: we have qualified five kids to the New York State Championship this year, two kids to the NCFL National Championship, and one kid to both Tournaments of Champions (extemp and speech.) Almost all of the kids on the team qualify for free/reduced lunch, so we don't require them to pay anything. However, these great opportunities add up, and we need support to keep supporting the hardest working kids in Crown Heights.
